Hi Guys, I am just preparing our Travel Affiliate Program, i need some wisdom from your pros.

First of All, Are there any one here who is into travel marketing.

Is 10% Commision too low for Affiliates ? However the payouts can be big.

Any advise

I guess it would be hard to get affiliates with 10% commision..

Most online marketers go for +50% commision

This is not completely true, big commissions are usually offered on digital products that require almost no further investments after created. The creator can sell a million copies without further investment, which in turn enables them to offer 50% and 75% commissions.

The online marketing world is a lot bigger than selling digital products. There are tons of companies operating successful affiliate programs offering affiliates as low as 2%.

      Wishing you much success,

          You're welcome,

I'm super happy to hear that I provided you with some motivation. The Warrior Forum is filled with good people giving good sound advice but you must remember that many are giving advice based completely on their own situation. This does not mean that they are completely clueless, it simply means that they might not fully understand your situation.

Knowing that, stay open to advice but always use your best judgment before acting on that advice, Test, Test and Test some more. The end results will be that you personally know what works or doesn't work for your business.

          Wishing you all much success,

I was about to say that 10% would be on the high side of what the standard is. If you look deeper in to what the big sites pay for the air portion of travel, you are looking at $7.00 flat.

Depending on the depth of the services and product you have to offer, it may be enticing to offer a bit more than "The Big Guys", but more might be 7.5%.

        Hope that Helps!

I've been in the travel industry for 15 years and I can say from experience that 10% for just being an affiliate sending links through would be very strong. This business is a whole lot different than online marketing of a PDF or video where it's easy to pass on 50+% commission.

Travel agencies, full service ones that deal with the client up front for everything from initial booking to sending documents to handling complaints, and ones that have all kinds of overhead, make a maximum of 15-16% of a travel package (hotel portion, as airlines don't pay diddly these days).

If someone who knew the biz could simply push traffic through and make 2/3 of what a full service agency can do? I think you would have a very palatable program. (Hell, I might jump ship!)

If your back end is reliable (hey now!), meaning you have a strong booking system with comprehensive products, and someone wanted to get into travel marketing who knows the travel biz is different from typical online marketing programs (that pay 50+% commission), you might have a winner. Because yes, Expedia and their ilk pay peanuts but still get quite a lot of business from linkers.

Go and research the big travel companies such as Expedia and see what their affiliate programs pay out. Model after what is already successfully working for others. That's the smartest way to do things.

Travel is such a broad industry. But I'd happily take a 10% commission for airline bookings, I doubt they'd pay that though. is it for a full chartering of something like an oasis class cruise ship? if so, then 10% would be great

But if it's an information product then 10% is very low. like mentioned above, everyone knows it costs next to nothing to re-create

You will not get a lot of affiliates promoting for you.

I would give them at least 50%-75%.
