Best "Method" for selling domain names?

Flippa seems kind of crowded and lots of potential for fraud there. What is the best way to sell or offer a domain name for sale in all ya'lls opinions? Just the domain name(s) only, no site, registered w/godaddy. Thoughts?

In my opinion, the best way to sell just a domain name is to contact web site owners in the niche (competitors) to see if they have an interest.

In order to sell anything, I don't care what it is, you need to be making your offers to people that are targeted to what you are selling. It is the way to narrow down your prospects to only those who would be the best candidates for what you're selling.

So figure out what niche your domain name would appeal to, Google the top sites in that niche, and then contact the owners to see if they have an interest.

Most of them will turn you down unless you have a very premium name. If you domain was developed and getting both traffic and income, you would stand a much better chance of making a sale.

I tried Godaddy Auctions, useless, not even views, i think in there only way can get visibility is through their "Premium" service, regular ways people won't see them.

Sedo is the best marketplace to sell domains. Flippa is better if you are selling a whole website.

I think the first step is to put up a page with a for sale notice for the name. If people are looking for that name, they will contact you. The next step is of course to go where the eyes are which is the sites that specialize in domain name sales. The third step which is highly over-looked is LinkedIn. Search profiles for those who list "domain broker" or any similar keyword in their profile/title and connect with them.

Yep, so from what I have been reading, a broker is almost a must have, agreed?

Sounds great but domain brokers will not take on 99% of the domains. They only want 'premium' DOT.COM domains that can be sold for AT LEAST $20K...MOSTLY $100K+++. There is no secret...want to sell your domains? Come up with a REAL price for it and find the end users that could benefit from it...send them an email. Be sure you are targeting the person that is responsible for domain purchases.
        Good Luck!

I have never been able to sell a domain name, I can buy them easily but tough to sell. I am done with domain names only. The key is to have PR, Traffic, Links and the most important thing is revenue. That is what sells and that is obviously the hardest part. IF you can do something easliy then so can everyone esle. The key is what niche and problem are you trying to solve. If you are just doing to make money then you are only solving your problem.
Look at this site I am trying to sell [ no revenue some traffic] http//www.advertiseyourblog.com

Your confusing TWO things. Millions of dollars of domain sales happen every week...BUT they have to be good domains at a fair price. You domain has very little value by itself...The website could sell BUT it needs a lot of work...Fix it, gain traffic and then it maybe salable.

It depends on the name. Brokers will only take on decent domains. Try Media Options.

Flippa is no good for selling sites. 90% of sites are junk so the other 10% get tarnished with the same brush.

The best method for most sellers is to list it as a premium domain on GoDaddy. Anyone searching for the domain to register it will instead be notified that it's available for $x. Just don't get stupid with the pricing.

    blenzboss,

    What's your goal?

If you want to be a domainer the answer is no.
Unless you just want to get rid of your domain.

You did receive good answers to your question from
Steve B and Mo Goulet regarding the first steps to
    follow up.

Do you think all good .com Domains are taken?
Not true at all. You don't need 3D glasses to find them.

Your next move will be gathering all the info you can about
domains and learn every aspect of it.

If you want to sell domains you need to think out of the box.

Finding a way to be a bit creative by being different, first
at it and the best in the particular way of doing it.

Maybe you're thinking, oh boy, that's a lot of work...

    You're darn right. It's!

The saying goes: He who wants fish must wet his rear end.

Good luck and lets us know your progress.
