Some questions about autoresponders for an offline client...

First off--thanks for all the help here everyone. I'm a real newb but this forum has been priceless in getting me the info I need. It really is much appreciated, and I'm seeing results already--I've only gotten serious about this (could even get more serious, really) for the last month, and I've pulled in a couple hundred dollars in the past few weeks. Should be making a couple hundred more in the next few days. I'm on my way, and I've got all you guys to thank for that. Do they have a thanks button for the forum in general? :-)

Anyhow--here's the questions: What is the best way to set up an autoresponder for wordpress? Should I use a plugin or go with aweber like a lot of people do who are on this forum? Also, how much do you suggest charging for adding it to a page? I'm building free basic wordpress sites right now because its making me money and it's a great learning process, but I don't want to scare the guy off as he is one of my first customers and is hinting at future business. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
dru-man

    It depends.

If you want to be able to pre-set messages that every new subscriber gets in the same sequence and with the same timing, a true autoresponder like aweber is the way to go.

If all you want to do is send announcements to a relatively small list, it might be easier to use one of the plug-ins, or even look into announcement list scripts offered with fantastico on cpanel.

As far as pricing goes, you'll get answers all over the board.

Dan Kennedy offered this bit of wisdom in one of his seminars...

"Maybe the most important factor in success as a consultant, even more important than your skill in your specialty, is your ability to quote your fees with a straight face."

Kennedy went on to say that he actually practiced in front of a mirror until he could name his fee for a project without flinching, then wait calmly and silently until he got an answer.

I would have to agree with John about pricing. You will get a lot of different answers from different people.

As far as using an autoresponder service as opposed to a plug in, I would go with the autoresponder service. Not only will you have more features with a service like aweber... if you sign your client up for the service through your aweber affiliate link you now have a monthly residual income from aweber.
