Hi

I have just completed my MBA. I don't know much about internet marketing. Currently I work in an company which are involved in Web Designing, hosting etc.

There I came to know about internet marketing. I really have no idea, how it works, or Is it works?



Normally when we do something i.e. Job or business, so the main purpose is salary or profit. So what's in there and how.


I know every business needs time to establish; whats in there, how much time, how to work, what to do, where to start and importantly actually most important how to convince yourself and others that its a real business and not just clicking or wasting time.

  • There are many different directions that people go in to make money online.

    Whatever you end up doing online, it is very important to build an email list of people who like and trust you. When you have an email list of people that you treat well by helping them with good content, you will then have a list where some will buy your products and services.

    Focus on building a list in a popular subject that you are interested in - then you will have an audience of people who you can tell about your products and services.

    You need a autoresponer to build a list. Aweber is a well known autoresponder company that many use.

  • You've come to the right place to learn. Basically everyone here wants to learn methods and skills that use the internet as a vehicle to connect with customers out there who are looking on the internet for a product or service. Customers can include fellow online marketers who need, say, articles written for their blog, or websites designed, etc. Yes, we are all here to make money in legit, long term sustainable ways.

    This community exists so that we can learn from each other and gather information for your income-making journey, but it will take you a few days of really reading popular posts to get up to speed. If it is all completely new to you (eg, you have only just heard of online marketing), you won't pick it up in 5 minutes. You will really need to read, read, read posts to get an understanding of what's going on, what is possible with this, and where you would like to try to start.

    It sounds like you work in the right environment. Perhaps you have some web design skills, or can offer a good price on quality hosting? That stuff belongs here.

    Internet Marketing is selling a product/service to other people using the medium of internet.

    Most people who do internet marketing are just being affiliates (on a commission base) and sell other people's stuff.

    Less number of people are actual product creators and they do internet marketing to sell their products/services.

    Products:
    Real life goods like shoe, bike, clothes etc
    Digital goods like software, games, information products.

    Services:
    Web design services, consultation, virtual assistance services etc

    And these are just some of the mediums of Internet Marketing:

  • If you have the right skills and are willing to do some hard work up front, a marketing business takes little or no start-up costs.
    1) You need a bank account, business address, service rate card and business name. Starting a marketing business for free usually means you initially need to use your home address, personal bank account and your own name for payment purposes.
    2) Start by using skills that you already have, such as writing, web design and graphic arts. Seek out familiar industries.
    3) Take advantage of free marketing plan templates online. Include the 4 P's in your business marketing plan (Product, Price, Promotion, and Placement).
    4) Seek out web sites that offer free trials or free services to help you get started. Eventually, you need a web site with your own domain name. However, you can get started by using use free sites provides a nice business template.
    5) Ask your friends to "share" or forward the news about your new marketing business. Your new business must show clients that you know how to use the latest resources effectively.
    6) Every email you send should have information about your new marketing business in the form of a web address, slogan, or similar at the bottom. Holidays are opportunities to share a greeting from your business Facebook page. Social gatherings present an opportunity to mention your new business.

    I preferred 'List Building in MMO niche'.It gave me a nice boost to my IM career.

    • I agree that 'focus' is key.

      I just read the following today that really drove this point home to me:

      "The fox that chases two rabbits comes home hungry"
      -Ancient Proverb

      This is especially true as you you end up on more & more lists. Trust me, it is SO easy to get distracted when you're online.

      The best thing that you can do is to choose one area and become an expert at it. Learn all that you can about it. But also do start implementing it right away too. Be sure to stick with one thing for a reasonable length of time.

      Dedicate yourself to mastering one thing and it will pay off.

  • Once you decide on what type of internet marketing business to focus on, you then need to take some massive action on it, learn it, study it, test it out, and keep at it and don't give up.

    • There are plenty of directions to go in , and that is usually not a good thing. Most people new to internet marketing just get overwhelmed with the options and try everything at once.

      I suggest you choose one option and then focus on that one method until you master it. There's no point in doing half work in internet marketing or it won't work...

      Now if i would advice you something to get started with, it would be to build an email list. That's the lifeblood of every sucessful internet marketer.

  • As posted above already there are many ways to make income online. In fact internet is absolutely great discovery, which gives people the chance to earn much money, have more time and live a better life!

    From my point of you, I can recommend you to start with affiliate marketing/lead generation and use PPC as your main traffic source. Of course there are other great traffic sources such as Email Marketing and PPV and you can use these too to develop your business.

    It's very important to find the right product to promote, as there are many offers which may not be good enough to make online living.

  • IM is a broad thing. You must be very specific on what to learn first. You can start with affilate marketing like promoting someone else's products or making your own.

      Internet Marketing is a wide and deep vertical to know everything, it can take months or years, (from Backlinking, Linkbuilding, Email Marketing, Video Marketing, Social Media Campaign, Offline Consultant, Affiliate Marketing, Webhosting, Video Creation, Solo Ads Reseller,,,,,and the list is more and more, you name it... )

      So you have already a good background in Webdesign and Hosting, you can start little and grow by the time, offer a Gig in Fiverr for $5, as example: go to Fiverr open an account if you don't have and create a Gig: "I will design awesome and professional Logo Design Concepts For Your Business" if you are good on creating Logo, Header, Facebook Timeline Cover, and more...just create many gigs as you can and be able to deliver on time, and work full time from home, this will make you a good earning income on daily and monthly basis.If you can deliver 20 Gig a day, you can do the math, how much will you be able to deliver and make from these Gig.....

  • It's the same as with any business activity.
    You've got marketing ROI which is calculated form how much you've spent on a marketing effort and how many clients you've attracted, how much you've earned from them.

    You have a number of digital marketing channels: SEO, SMM, Ads, PPC, PPL and so on. You pick up the channel that promises to be profitable.

    Most people got now idea of how it works that's why it's better when no-marketers don't touch on the marketing budget, or else it vanishes just like that.

  • One of the biggest problems with IM and something I experienced over five ago is information overload. People telling you to try this and that, good down that path, this works and this doesn't.......

    Before you dive in at the deep end, write down things that you want to do and achieve from this and also anything that you're good at and there could be a demand for, afterall, this is a supply and demand business.

    Once you've got a fair idea of what you want to do and how you hope to achieve it, start dipping your toes in the water. Take a note of the things which work and forget about the things which are a waste of time. Once you've found tools which give you what you're looking for, just replicate that in other areas and things should keep improving.

    • Totally agree, because that's what happening right now. But thanks to all of you, which are helping me to be on right path and avoid distraction. I am interested in affiliate marketing and A blog of time for some specific topic, which I'm currently working on.... Hopefully by your and other IM support, I'm sure I'll achieve for what I'm struggling for.
  • The best one to start for a beginner would be to sell your services on fiverr. I make roughly $2000+ per month consistently on fiverr without doing much work.

    Once you earn some good money, you can get a mentor and scale the business.

  • Whatever you decide to do, stick to it. The quickest way to failing is moving from method to method. I did it for years before I finally stuck to something. Also consider getting a coach or mentor or at least map out a step by step plan you can follow over and over again.

    There's a lot you can do, truthfully. To set up a business from scratch may seem daunting but it's not all that hard. First thing you need is an idea. Figure out a niche you want to target, and from there it becomes simpler. Make sure you choose something that interests you.

    • One way you could get started online is to buy what used to be referred to as an ''out of the box'' business or in other words one which is ''done for you''.

      Some of these DFYs can be very expensive so search around and find one the right one for you which suits your budget. Don't spend a fortune on it and don't fall for all those spammy, empty promises the seller is making to you. Research the business thoroughly - do your due diligence!

      Then when you have set everything up in your DFY business look four a quick and easy free traffic source. Social media is good for this especially for a newbie. Look at Facebook (but not FB ads as they have to be paid for), Twitter and You Tube. Select only one of these to start with, the one you like the most.

      Get some free training about how to use the traffic source you decided upon for marketing your business.

      Drive traffic to you DFY business website or offer, product or whatever it is you've bought into.

      Sell your product and then reinvest your money back into the business to get more traffic and this will start the ''snowball'' effect.

      Apply these 3 rules every single day in your business:

      1. Drive traffic to your offer
      2. Have an offer which converts
      3. Making sales

      Rule 4. - never give up and never stop learning and trying new things.

      Rule 5. don't get distracted by the next shiny offer the comes alone, just stick to the DFY you chose and make it a success!

      And yes, internet marketing does work if you'd do it right, trouble is 97% of online marketers don't do it right and fail at it. Sorry, but it's true. So get yourself the right business and the right training, set it all up in the right way and be consistent at it with the 3 rules above and you'll be on a firm foundation to success.

      Build it slowly, but build it right and don't expect success overnight!

  • As per your first question, Yes Internet Marketing really works and peoples make $50-$500 per day, online.

    Second Question: If you think you're having skills that can help someone to achieve his goals, you should definitely be a service provider.

    If you can't then you should first go for learning.

    • From comments above I think most people assume that I'm a web Designer or involved in Designing, which isn't correct. I'm working in this Web Company but not a designer.

      As you ask that, what i'm good at, so that is Research, Teaching and helping others ( providing timely information, making presentation, assignment, help in exams, research on some topic for them, doing educational survey online etc).

      Rest I know how to make free sites like google sites ( was having 3,4), yahoo groups ( 4, 5), facebook pages (6,7) & groups (3,4), co.cc (3), blogspot (1), wordpress(1). I was having that many of all those and I was running it.

      Currently I don't. Because I make all those for fun or helping out my friends like for sharing educational stuff with them and one site was for book sharing... like free books download.

      Monetizing was never in my mind nor my goal. So that's what I can or that's what I'm good at.

      But I'm not a web designer...

      Anyhow Thanks for the other things you mentioned...
  • In order to start internet marketing, the most important aspect is finalizing the keywords. You will get the best results through SEO strategies only if you are working on the right keywords.

    In making money online I'm new as well. I spend last few month on reading and thinking what is the best options. And than I decided to do anything in practice. And this is crutial - start doing even if you are not sure is it the best what you can do. You will develop it later. But you need your own experience whitch you can compare with theory This will give you huge speed up to do all your things in proper way
    And if you can - make money from different sources - but doing one thing

  • I am also very new to this world of Internet Marketing, I have just taken part in a short course called the Quick Start Challenge which has helped move from "butterfly hopping" from one idea to another for years, to actually getting a blog up and running and starting to develop an actual presence online. Personally I would not have made this start without the help from this forum and also finding a great mentor in Dean Holland and his team.
    I have found that there is a whole host of new terms, techniques and possibilities to developing a business and it's real easy to waste time and money on the "fluff" of being off-track, where a mentor can give you focus and help you make progress.

    2. offer gigs in programming and designing since you can designing a website, then you are on your way up with this simple approach.
  • You must have your own product and high standards on your promotional efforts in order to succeed. Yes it works!
  • The money is in the list, is something every internet marketer knows. There are very many ways you can pursue in order to make money online, but I would really start building my email list form day one.
    I suggest you set up an autoresponder account with Aweber, GetResponse, Mailchimp or another good autoresponder service (there are plenty out there), start learning how you can get people to subscribe to your list, and how to build a good relationship with them. The thing I have found is the best ways to build good relationship, is if you have a great story to tell (let them get to know you), and give away helpfull stuff to them! (Valueable stuff) Then you build trust very quickly. Why would you want them to trust you? Bacause it all comes down to making money right? And people only buy from the ones they trust.

  • As a complete newbie myself, I would like to, with respect, repeat the advice given by a few of the above warriors: Before spending any money on products or services, find a mentor who will advise you on what to do and how to progress. For more years than I care to remember I bought product after product, service after service, opportunity after opportunity --- always chasing after the Shiny Objects in search of a way of making money on the internet, and failed miserably. This was almost entirely my own fault, as I did not commit myself to any one thing. Earlier this year I realized that I wasn't EVER going to get anywhere on my own. I needed a mentor, and I signed up with someone who is awesome. He's a very excellent coach and he will teach me everything I need to know in the quickest time possible. If this idea appeals to you, feel free to PM me and I will tell you who he is, and give you the names of other coaches that I know of in the UK, along with a few in the USA. Keep smiling! Mike

I have just started to explore...But, please make sure you don't purchase every single WSO out there ( i know you will be tempted to do so..), research and focus on just what is just required for you otherwise you will get confused and lost.






  • The very first thing before starting any business you need to know about the business properly and study thoroughly about it. Then do market research about the same that how many competitors are there and how they are earning money from business and what are their strategies for business. After then try to create brand image for your business and take advice of any expert. Business i snot only about loses and profit, it's about brand image of your products or services in the market.

    Unfortunately what many people don't tell you is it is harder than you think. Most people are losing more money than they make.

    If you want to really make success focus on understanding the market, finding out the biggest issues people have and why they fail. Then invest time in understanding how you can help others to get successful. Then offer them some help in the form of free info to start building a list and providing value.

    Listen to the feedback from your list. Then spend some time to create a quality product that you can offer your list that will help them succeed.

  • You are certainly on the right track with your statement, "it's a real business and not just clicking and wasting time."

    After nearly four years in IM, I feel like I finally have a grasp on the concept. You hear "the money's in the list" so often that it seems like a cliche. But knowing how to set up a backend system that will build your list is the most essential skill of all.

    The worst thing we can do (and I know because I've done it) is chase the newest and brightest shiny object that passes through this forum. Find a subject and a system and HAMMER at it until it starts to produce returns.

    And don't think you can do this all alone. There are thousands of Warriors who will team up with you and together you will all gain.

    No man is an island, especially in IM.

  • Definitely figure out which of the many aspects of IM you do best (developing content, networking, etc.). You might be surprised to find out what you're good at.
  • How to make money online is too board.There are many avenues like affiliate marketing,freelancing,drop shipping,website design,programmming etc it all depends on your skill set.
  • Create your own high value product on Clickbank and have others promote it.
  • As you can see from the posts in this thread, internet marketing can be confusing because there are so many options. It is hard to figure out how to proceed.

    It is important to choose a good niche, get a site up and going, choose the right income type: affiliate sales (like Clickbank or Amazon), advertising (Adsense or direct), email list promotions, self-developed products (applications or Kindle/ebooks), and on and on.

    It is good to learn what some call a system (but not some big guru type set up) that fits with the general area you want to try. I chose to focus on content marketing and found Lisa Irby's Niche Website Success to be very helpful because it goes step by step through every aspect of developing a web business--and it is inexpensive which didn't hurt since I didn't really want to spend a lot of money at the time! There are some other ways to learn as well, but make sure you learn all the basics for whatever area of work you choose (every step until the money is in your pocket).

    One thing I strongly recommend is to pick a focused project and work it through from beginning to end. I made the mistake of taking on a big one that required nearly 200 pages of content to cover adequately. You can end up taking years to get anywhere if you do that. I recommend sites that require only 10-20 pages of content to be effective. I wouldn't recommend any of the landing page, single page setups because you will have a hard time getting traffic.

    There is no fast and easy way to make money online but with sheer guts and determination, you can make it work for you.

    One of the ways that you could help people and it follows on from the last post - why not create your own website where you tell people about what you're learning and what it has done for you.

    That's exactly what I'm doing at the moment and I'm learning day by day and eventually I'll be able to call myself and internet marketer.
