Why Camtasia for PC cost 3X what cost Camtasia for Mac?

Anybody knows?

I'm waiting for a long time to get a good deal on Camtasia as I just can't understand why they discriminate PC users.

Unless 200 bucks from the 300 are going to Microsoft I can't see a reason to charge 3 times the price then for the Mac version.

    im thinking that mac's market is completely different than PC's. On the mac, you can screen record for free with quick time.

      Exactly, due to different competitions and user quantities I guess, the price is different. In stead of pay that much price, I prefer seeking for its alternatives, the features are pretty much the same while I should much less price. Smartpixel is enough for many people to finish their video tasks.

        Thanks, Smartpixel looks a lot like Screencast-O-Matic which I have and which is a great tool.

        I would need Camtasia to make green screen videos according to a course I purchased lately from Todd Gross.

        Looks like Camtasia 8 has a feature to replace Green Screen with an image or video to make those great looking Videos from Todd.

      That would explain the huge difference in price.

      The only way to get it for half is to move to the US and apply as a student to a University .

      Guess I have to prepare to pay the 300 bucks.

    Another reason can be that Techsmith has to build their Mac user base first before raising the price.

    I've owned Camtasia for years and haven't used it in quite some time. IMHO it is overkill for what the average person needs to record a video. I'm more likely to use one of the many free options just for simplicity's sake.
