Newbie question: What's the best free blogging solution to start Affliate or Internet Marketing

Hi, a newbie here:
What's the best Internet Marketing or Affliate marketing free blogging solution. I'm a bit strapped for cash and can't do with monthly fees such as GoDaddy (there customer service is a bit rude sometimes). I was going try blogger, but was told by a fellow warrior to stay a from it. May I ask what you Warrior Veterans recommend please?

Just like anything in Life there are Pros and Cons to most everything.

Personally, I think Blogger is just fine to start out on. I would not do it over long term and I highly suggest that you find the $10 year to have and own your own Domain. Which you can purchase right there at the Blogger Site.

Look for the platform that's popular with your intended audience, not that one that's popular with other marketers. You want to find and connect with your tribe on their turf. Best of luck!

I vote for Blogger too. It is not look at with respect - does not quite deserve that if you ask me. But switch to Wordpress as soon as you can afford it.

I would recommend getting a domain - to build a brand from day one

I would recommend you to go with either wordpress or blogger. Those two are the best solutions in this regards I would say.

There are all sorts of options for free blogging including Blogger, Wordpress.com, Wix, and Weebly. These are all easy to get set up, but there are limitations to most things that come free. At least purchase your domain name for the website, if you decided to go with a free blogging solution.

      WingedJustice,

My recommendation would be to find the money (it doesn't take much) to buy a domain name, get some cheap but decent hosting, and put up a WordPress blog. From there, you can easily add an ecommerce solution at some point down the road and be selling your own product.

Here's why I recommending you do this. From day one you want to have control over your business. It's important so that you can begin building an email list of followers and start promoting your brand. You won't have to worry about appearing "cheap" or unprofessional with a free solution (which often comes with the baggage of ads you don't want). More important, you can scale up without changing platforms and domains.

Go sell a pint of blood for $50. That will be enough to get you started with a domain and hosting for six months. Borrow the money from family. Sell something you own on eBay. Do odd jobs for a few weeks - but invest something in your new business to get you started off on the right foot.

You can get a domain at Godaddy for $.99 if you look Google "Godaddy promo code." Choose a dot com that will fit your chosen niche. You can find a good, available name at Impossibility(dot)org or try LeanDomainSearch( dot)com. You can get the "hatchling" hosting plan at HostGator for about $4 per month. These are just a few possible ways to get started cheap but also maintain your own control of your business. There are other alternatives as well.

My point is . . . don't let a few buck stand in the way of starting your IM business on a shoestring the right way. Be professional. Maintain control of your own business. Find a way to fund your business - it can be done very cheaply so that you won't have to change platforms later.

I hope you have great success.

That's possible, but I spent months for ranking my domains, then I put similar content on blogger and bum, I started to earn 5x without a single backlink. I hope i will find a way to rank my own domains someday.

I have 3 domains on paid hosting and 20+ blogger blogs, making $2000-$2500 monthly and %90 of the money comes from blogger blogs. In fact I am thinking of get rid of paid domains and hosting.

So sometimes free is the best for some uses. Blogspots somehow rank good without seo for less competitive niches.

Blogger is owned by google - this makes blogspots rank really good.
Another good option is to use wordpress.
I prefer to use my own hosting and domains, but if you are on a budget, these 2 options are the best in my opinion.
    All the best,

I think Movable Type is free. Only other one i can think of is Blogger. You may want to use them for a short while then migrate to Wordpress.

I personally would recommend you spending time making other money instead of trying to get started on a blog when you can't afford a domain and hosting. You definitely have bigger issues than where to start a free blog.

You want to own your blog. Heck, do $5 articles on fiverr to make some money if you need to.

Wordpress would be completely free as long as you keep a sub domain.

Here's my suggestion. Blogger or wordpress is not your property. Therefore, you are not in full control of those sites. So what I do is go to hostgator.com and get a hatchling plan. It's only $3.96/mth. Or if that's too much, you can find cheaper hosting plan else where. I've seen $1.96/mth. From the control panel, use Fantasico to create a wordpress site on your OWN domain with a few mouse clicks. It's so simple a 6 year old child can do it. This is a right way to start your online business.

Learn Wordpress its fun and easy to learn and once you do you can put together websites pretty easy. Get cheap hosting then you learn the process of dns, working in the cpanel, ftp and all that fun stuff. You want to own your own domain and website if possible.

I also saw a blog hosted at wix.com

And the blog owner has full control of the widgets because it was full of affiliate ads. Not so sure if it was possible coz i havent tried wix yet.

Blogger should be nice since its owned by google. Was thinking of doing amazon review using blogger. No need seo since its blogger so it gets easily index by google plus long tail keyword.

    DON'T.

You can get a domain name for as low as $1 for the first year if you follow some promotions by GoDaddy. Even if you can't get that deal, a domain costs $10 a year maximum. And you can get hosting for less than $35 a year or even less if you search a bit for a good deal. Just make sure that the hosting company is a reliable one. If you are short on cash, try other things that will not require a website until you have the cash to start a website.

You can set up a blog on Blogger.com. Because it's owned by Google, really good, in-depth blog posts & articles stand a good chance of getting ranked highly.

The only problem with hosting on someone else's domain is that you dont control the content. So, if after 6 months and 500 blog posts, Blogger.com shuts down for whatever reason, you've lost all that hard work.

You may be strapped for cash, but i would always ALWAYS recommend getting together at least some money for a domain name & hosting account & hosting your own blog. You'll be able to control the content better & you can link your Google+ account with platforms like WordPress so that you stand a better chance of getting your posts ranked highly. Plus with WP, there are lots of cool free plugins which will optimize your posts for good rankings.

I echo what others have said about scraping together money to pay for a domain and hosting.

As far as blogging platforms, I have used blogger and it was fine. But I now use Weebly and prefer it. Very easy to use. Easy to upgrade to better features when you are ready.

Yup, try to get some money first, the fees for hosting are not that expensive.
The Fiverr gigs idea sound good.

selfhosted site is the way to go.

Wordpress for sure but Weebly and Wix are perfectly fine. Your decision should be based on how you like each platform not what other people say, so if you like Blogger use Blogger.

Wordpress.com does not take kindly to blogs that are there to sell or market anything. Those blogs get deleted quite quickly. Don't know why so many here have recommended the service. Waste of time if your goal is to make money.

I agree with what others have said, using free services put you in vulnerable position, all your work (and income) could be gone tomorrow. They have their uses, but not something to put all your eggs in.
