Hi. How can I have a website like lynda.com where Users can pay and use training videos on subscription bases? Is there any content management system(CMS/LMS) that have same functionality? I read moodle and blackboard are along those lines, but is it?
Any idea is appreciated.

I have never done it, BUT.... I think you should be able to do that with wordpress and just about any membership script/plugin.

    cheers,

Wordpress plus wishlist that's what I use when I sell training. I also own optimize press 2 which has a member plugin but I have not built a site with it yet, that is my next one I plan to test it.

I also started putting one training on udemy just to see how that works but you have to split with them.

There are already lots of established companies doing this. Might be very tough to break thru in that market.

AH... okay. Makes perfect sense now. You and I interpreted the question differently. I thought the OP was asking about how they might builds a topic specific training site that served up videos. Since they did not identify the topic/niche I couldn't figure out why you thought there was existing competition.

          Thanks for the clarification!

That's funny because I checked out Lynda.com a few months back & browsing their videos for one category was disappointing considering how the site is heavily advertised.

The impression I got was someone needs to take that video training sub-niche & do a better job at providing tutorials.

If you want to use Wordpress, this is pretty close: WordPress - Academy - Learning Management Theme | ThemeForest

WooCommerce (free) integrates with this to accept payments: http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/

If you are new to the IM, and you have basic knowledge of html-php-css, in my opinion this would be difficult to go with, Unless if you have $$$ you can buy membership site ready and outsource the staff to do work for you.

Instead if you are advanced, you can choose a niche you are interested in, do some research for that niche and make useful Video courses to that specific target, and upload all courses to the member area, offer a monthly payment...

The hard time is just in the start when you want to create the contents, once is done just relax and focus only on traffic.....

My advice is to team with someone, both side should bring something in the table
    whether money-knowledge-Great Ideas-Customers etc....

If you have the willingness, learn and study without stopping, and absorb from the Big Guy

As mentioned above, you can use any number of membership plugins. You will need to do some research to find the best fit.

If, however, you are just looking to offer some courses, why not just become an instructor on Udemy?

What I use is optimize press. It comes with a membership plugin. Works well for me. it is not cheap but is less than some others and has really cool features. I am not an affiliate for them, just thought I would mention what works for me.

I am not much of a programmer so that should tell you something if I can use it well. I am also an instructor at Udemy, it is great but you have ZERO control over list building and even cross promotion. You leave money on the table by not building a list but they have a huge name.

    Dear Wahid,

I understand what you're looking for. My company does just that and I am focused on exactly experts like you to be able to share their skills (the same way as Lynda). Only - you'll be in complete control of your business. You can sell he entire curriculum (training videos and other coursework) as well as well as individual courses. Check out ScholarLMS. It can we very well integrated if you are running your main website in wordpress and have users registered there.

The good thing about this is that now you can use the power of both wordpress and Moodle - that too on the cloud!

Hope I was able to help! Cheers!

Have you checked out Fedora? It will allow you to create an online school with several courses in it.

Free to use and they just take a percentage of sales.
