What web analytics tool is the best one? What do you use for your websites and why? I know that Google Analytics is very popular but I would like to hear about others, not less effective website analytics tools including paid one.

I really like Clicky when it comes to analytics. Simple but still powerful, stable and affordable (though not free - unlike Google they have no interest in your data which is a major selling point for me).

I use a combination of GA and statcounter.com. Statcounter has a free version which works well and is much easier then GA for a quick overview.

    What about Awstats?

My current take is to use as little Google products as possible. Clicky is the best alternative out there. Clear, reliable, free.

I've always used Google analytics. For me they're really good and reliable. Easy to set up too. If i remember correctly you only have to Copy&Paste some code into your website.
