How To Promote A $6000 Product?

So I've been accepted into a private affiliate program where the product is $6000 if the customer decides to go ahead and make a purchase... needless to say the commission is nice too

Without going into too much detail I've got a few different hop pages I can choose to promote... currently i write about a 2000 word review for physical products I promote and then get organic traffic which converts quiet well... should i do the same for this product which is an online study course? Or is there a better way for high ticket items like this?
#product #promote
  • Well most of the expensive products have to be sold live (over the phone, in person, at event or webinar) something like that. Problem for affiliate is when you get to the sales price they might want to talk to the owner and go around you and you get cut out of the commission. You have to close them then and there and it's hard if you are an affiliate. This is not 100% the case it can be setup when it can be done but you depend on the owner and how he set everything up.

I would be looking at webinars, small events to targeted people or 1 on 1 sales calls to sell something of that value.

Use the usual way to get traffic, generate leads and then get them onto the webinars, events or calls etc then sell them from there before sending them to the final sales page.

Come up with a related lead capture so you can follow up with a series of emails with convincing reasons to get your product.

Make your emails compelling enough for them to keep clicking to the sales pages.

I would say the best bet is to get PERSONAL.

    1) Phone Calls
    2) Webinars
    3) Hand Holding
    4) Romance. (Not in the traditional sense, romancing them to DESIRE whatever it is you're promoting)...

Make your traditional funnel PROMOTE the listed elements.

yeah i was thinking about that... although they get a $1000 discount for ordering online and the order page is co-branded with my logo... as far as i can see they've done a lot of work as of late to really push an impulse online sale as they don't just focus on how good the course is educationally... but also financially for the student... etc...

well i used to do door to door sales and telesales so this could be an option... my goal is to always make things as simple and hands free as possible as that is what i believe internet marketing is about... so food for thought

it's not my product... i'm just an affiliate... the course i am promoting (the company) gives away a sample lesson and then they have quiet an aggressive in-house email marketing campaign to get the sale... they have a nice tone and it's a stellar product so i think they can get away with it

i've done my keyword research and you'd be surprised at the amount of people searching for the very thing i have been accepted to promote... ONLINE... and in my opinion these are mostly buying keywords... adwords competition alone is fierce so I imagine SEO would be too (not that it has ever stopped me in the past... just makes me want to go for it even more!)

my traditional funnel is creating great content in the form of a review for my 'money content'... pre-selling them and getting the click-through... and my job is done... most of the merchants i have and continue to work with provide great conversions... so as long as my rankings stand... my income continues... based on the comments above it seems that it's about time i create an email list... although it's a completely new business model than what i'm used to so need to think long and hard about my best option/s to do so and then go with my gut

Sounds good you definitely have the skills then, a little more work on your part but with high ticket products you don't need many to make a good living.

The natural process should weed out time wasters and that means you are not spending too long talking to these people.

The other thing is getting the leads means you can market to them other thing in future to boost your profits.

I say get them to fill out a form (to pre-qualify)

Then get them on the phone and do some old fashioned selling

Not exactly the sexiest answer, but it flat out works

PPC media buys, advertise in magazine with wealthy people.

But again, you need to get leads, and the capture those leads, get them to trust you and then turn those leads into sales over the phone or something like that.

We have done this before, selling a $6000 product is just as easy as selling a $47 ebook, however its much more work targeting, and finding your most ideal client. To see where they hang out and go get them, and bring their attention on you and your products or message.

Some products/services..people aren't actually searching online for them. They need prompting to think about it.

        incorrect!

We have sold two $2500 packages, and these clients both said... "Hey this is exactly what we were looking for"

You need to get them on the phone or webinar but.

It was $5k profit for us, and we are now kicking ourselves that we could have sold them for much more!!!

These guys do need prompting, but there are plenty of people with month willing to spend it, you just have to go out and find it. We have 3 secret ways, but this thread is pretty good in giving you some solid ideas.

From our testing you need to get them on phone calls, or on webinars, but if you can sell well, and give away good content / info you will not need to prompt them, it just sells itself. Takes a bit of effort and work to get to that stage, but after a while you will realise, people do crave for high price products, and they are just as easy to sell as a $47 ebook.

Celente...I am not sure the the wealthy are your target customer. Legacy gives them a one up on the best private schools.
I would target people that are home schooled, charter schooled & religious schools. They are parents that are upper middle class & CARE about their kids education.

Maybe you missed my point. There are all different types of people out there, and in all walks of life, the best is to try and match as best you can with your most highly targeted customer.

If you just target your market, how do you know they have money. This is a quick way to fail or waist your time with tyre kickers. Its a big pain in the ass.

Plus if you are a smart marketer, you will ask them questions about income, or salary indiscreetly to take away the tyre kickers straight away, because they will be there.

Because in the end, you do not want to talk or communicate with people that do not have the capital upfront to invest in what you have on offer. So in an instant you can find out who to talk to, and who would be a waste of your time. Weed out the ones, that would be best for you time investment. Time is a commodity that you cannot get back remember?

so with just 1 or 2 questions you would be able to find out, where they are, and what they are after. And if they have the money. Its very smart and can get you quality leads, customers fast. Quality and and advanced lead capture you can do this.

When you get to high level marketing, this is a must.

On this one we will have to agree to disagree. Hitting a target market that appreciates what you are selling if more important than their wealth. IF they love it for their children there is always credit cards. They WILL find a way.

they can pay monthly (which makes it super affordable for anyone)... or pay upfront an get a massive discount... pus there's a few other instalment options... i'm starting to believe the company has done a lot of research to make sure sales are definitely achievable through online means only... plus they have a sales person that follows up once they enter their details as a lead where phone number is mandatory... food for thought

Don't know how fast you are to do this but I would produce a related product and sell it online, basically a irresistible offer for a light version of the main product.

That could be a Webinar or a video course. Point is that you would have 2 benefits.

You know that a lot search for it so you know there is demand.

Selling something front end will make you some money and pre-qualify your traffic for the 6k upsell what's not a light dish to digest.

that makes good sense... i'll look into my options here... i;d be promoting a full-blown course (like a uni course)... so finding or making the right product could be tricky that will properly pre-sell the high ticket item... maybe i could contact one of the teachers and see if they are willing to create a mini course (or even re-package a bunch of their material) for the pre-sell course?

What's the product? Without knowing it's impossible to research keywords. I'll come up with a list of keywords that will rank well and convert for you.

There are usually many great converting keywords that have little competition that are completely overlooked - all it takes is knowing how to find them.

I specialise in promoting high ticket items (although I promote low priced items too) and I can tell you as long as you concentrate on driving laser targeted product name search traffic making $6,000 sales won't be a problem.

The key here is to focus on ranking only for the product name related terms and capturing emails and building a list. Intercept traffic that has already been made aware of the product and you'll get good conversions.

Thank you and here is why I came up with that idea.

About a year ago I had signed up to an awesome freebie list (can't remember what is was but it was worth to signup).

They had a kind a survey after the signup asking about 10-15 questions with what I would need help with to have my own business setup. Off course I did replied and send them my survey.

In no circumstances they told me anything about price.

Now, as a follow up they called me up in Brasil and tried to sell me an 8k program, which I turned down, I actually was shocked about the value.

Now, the whole funnel they had was looking great in terms of value BUT they didn't pre-sold me to select if I'm a target for a 8k course.

I remember Frank Kern in a video he did a few month back where he told that you have to offer first the manual, then the "let me do it together with you" and as ultimate offer the "I'll do it for you".

free offer, then $50 bucks, $499 and then 8k.

If the client fork out $499 then you have a good chance to sell him the 8k over personal phone contact.

If you go from the freebie to the 8k, then you will most probably not sell much.

If the 6k program you offer miss the first steps, then do them yourself.

        Just my 2 cts.

        G.

yeah come to think of it when i was interviewed she asked me if i was going to be giving a bonus out... how much is an ipad these days? the commission is high enough for me to probably buy all enrolees an ipad and still pocket a decent amount... that would be a cool bonus as it's an online course... they could easily study it on the ipad (and i could even brand the ipad with my website sticker or something like that)... hmm lots to think about

Some pre-loaded Apps to stuff they need and to your website would also be a good idea.

We have a University here which sales hook is that they get a free tablet with the whole course material uploaded.

It's a great sales argument and actually the University saves more on paper than what the tablet cost.

          Win win for both.

hmm you make a good point... sort of like the google sniper method where people would go for 'product review' or whatever before big launches... although this is more evergreen due to the niche i am in... so you wouldn't also go for the generic terms like 'study *****' or '***** course' ???

I would avoid generic terms altogether and aim to rank only for the name of the course as this way you will get good results.

        Keywords like...

        {name of course} reviews
        {name of course} review
        buy {name of course}
how do i enroll in {name of course}?
        take {name of course} online
        etc...

You should be able to uncover dozens of easy to rank long tail keywords using Google Instant.

Here are 7 failure-proof techniques I've been using and teaching my clients. Apply each one to your affiliate business, and you'll soon see skyrocketing conversion rates on higher-priced products and lucrative up-sells.

    1) State the value of each component, then add 'em up for dramatic effect.

This works best for information products, but if you're creative, you can use it with almost anything, especially consulting services.

If your investment course sells for $599, make a list of everything your buyers get: digital reports, videos, workbook, telephone hotline, private site access, software, etc. Put a price tag on each - make it realistic, please ? then show how they add up to much more than $599.

Or let's say you're offering to install, configure, and customize an off-the-shelf software package for a total price of $699. Simply show how many hours you spend on each element, multiply by a realistic but high-end hourly rate... and show how buyers are getting $2500 worth of services for only $699!

    2) Bundle in bonuses or add-ons that your prospects can't easily price.

This takes some extra work, but I really love it because so few affiliates are doing it.

Let's say you?re an affiliate for high-ticket digital SLR cameras. Tell your buyers that when they purchase any camera over $599 from you, and they send you a copy of their receipt, they'll get a bonus CD-ROM packed with digital photography tips, imaging freeware and shareware, and your handpicked online resources for supplies, accessories, and photo printing.

    3) Turn your pocket calculator into a salesman.

Numbers can almost always support of your selling proposition, so put those numbers to work! Ask yourself how many ways can you MONETIZE the benefit of your product or service. Then put those numbers on the table.

For example, if you're selling a $1499 teleclass that teaches people options trading, calculate the LOWEST possible profit they will make from your system in one year's time. Say that even if they got the most mediocre results, they'd still make an average of $300 per day.

That means in a 5 day work week they'd make an average of $1500. In a 4-week month they'd make $6000. In a 50-week year they?d make $75,000. Now ask them to compare that to their current salary or hourly wage. Don't hype it up, just let the numbers speak for themselves.

    4) Word the price to make it seem tiny!

A $197 annual subscription sounds like a lot of money. But gaining access to business-critical information for just 54 cents a day sounds like, well... peanuts!

Sure, you'll need to contact freeware and shareware authors to get their permission to include their software on your disk. (Guess what? Almost none will refuse ? you're promoting them via direct mail for free!) And yes, you'll have to write up some tips and find photo resources.

But you can pack this CD with affiliate links. And you'll be saving your prospects a boat load of time. Your buyers can't compare it to anybody else's bonus CD, since nobody's offering one quite like yours. You can put any realistic value on it, promote it heavily, and get endless viral marketing value out of it.

And best of all, it's a way to get buyers to VOLUNTARILY give you both their email and snail mail addresses! Nice.

    5) Show a huge return compared to the purchase price.

Spell out, in dollars and cents, how the cost of your product or service is a drop in the bucket compared to the returns it generates.

Let's say your $799 workplace safety review course helps businesses pass inspections. Then calculate the exact cost of failing an inspection. List fines, penalties, cost of business shutdowns, etc. These will literally add up to five figures, a huge expense compared to the price of your course.

    6) Use a 'false close' to create suspense.

It's a classic... and it still works. Establish the value and desirability of your product without a doubt, but delay gratification for a few more paragraphs while piling on even more benefits.

The most common false close is the old "But wait, there's more..." tactic. Even though your case is made, you don?t stop and mention one or two more irresistible benefits.

This is also a great place to meet possible last-minute objections by pulling out the "Warning! Don't buy any investment course unless it meets these 8 criteria." If your prospects have gotten this far, they WANT the product. So give them 8 or 10 or 20 more ways to justify that big expenditure!

    7) Make your prospects relieved that you're charging so little!

This one's so easy, I'm amazed more affiliates don't do it. Show higher prices for other products... then tell them your price, which of course is much, much less!

Are you selling an investment course? First talk about $1 million private investment accounts... and the huge commissions investment managers charge. By the time you tell them about your $599 course, your prospect will breathe a sigh of relief!

Sure, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison. That's the whole point. You're showing your prospect why your $599 course is the least expensive choice for them... and maybe the only affordable one.

So manipulate them until you get the sale?

No need with real value products though. Tell them what it does, ask them if they are interested. Sell or move on. Easy. No Jedi mind trick training needed.

All selling is manipulating. If you don't think so then you're in the wrong field.

ONE THING that will make this process happen as simple as cutting through warm butter with a hot knife is by offering a low ticket funded proposal on the front end getting them to spend money with you first.

In the funded proposal, you want to blow them away with pure value.

Now that you have acquired a customer on the front end, now is the time to up sell your customer with your $6,000 product. It's always easier to upsell an existing customer a high ticket item, than to a 'colder' audience.

Like saying all sex is rape....great products need very little selling. Certianly no false hype/B*S* is needed like this

        6) Use a 'false close' to create suspense.

        2) Bundle in bonuses or add-ons that your prospects can't easily price.

        1) State the value of each component, then add 'em up for dramatic effect.

More car salesman than high end closing.

High networth, people with money might not be so gullible as a soccer mum

All this offer low priced product thing first is dead wrong. High networth aren't interested in that. So many are stuck in this mode.

Sell a $6,000 product the same way you would sell any other product. Email marketing combined with offline marketing. You have the "freedom" and spending capacity to do alot of offline direct mailing. I would use in conjunction of the internet.
Or you could get off your computer and go network where high rollers hang out?

    Get back to basics.

Understand WHY people buy. They don't care about the price. What they do care about is that they are going to get something in return that is more valuable to them than the money they are spending.

If you can convey that to them you will make the sale everytime.

I don't think marketing strategy for different product is different according to price. However , i'm sure that can not be same ....if you charge $6k price for product or investment ..you should must show the reason clearly why prospect going to spend soo much money on your product without a big name in industry....Anyway the best way to go is create a professional website..write detail about product must show the proof of profit prospect can expect after purchase ......Moreover you should answer every how and why , prospect have in mind regarding your product....You can also provide fixed period refund policy..It'll encourage them to take action...

Truly don't see what's the big deal? There are many products people buy that price well in excess of $6k and are easily sold online (i.e., ever bought a decent car? ). Simply advertise it, just like any other product. Of course, if you have doubts and have to ask, then maybe it's not worth it...

He is a affiliate from that product and not the owner.

So he's the one getting 500 to1k in commission.

You cannot have a general response because I think it depends so much on the kind of product that you're selling.

Thanks for all your feedback... some of it was really helpful... some of it was merely a way for people to get their signature link in the thread LOL... lot's for me to go over... I've postponed my launch for this (by a month or so) as I've just upgraded my website and am making a few changes (which have already seen an increase in conversions for other things I am promoting in the health niche)... I'm going to mind-map this as there are quiet a few ways for me to promote this... and i plan on smashing it and become top affiliate

What I find sad is that they expect you to sell such a high priced item and not offer training on how to sell it. $6000 is cheap if you are speaking a franchise model. Find out if they offer mentorship, they should for that price.

Also try Daegan Smith's media buys for high ticket items. and the advice about selling on the phone is extremely valid, all be it scary if you don't know what you are doing.

They should be offering a phone follow up for you at that price.
Find out if they do and take advantage of there expertise, because most people can not sell very well on the phone.
Speak to the sellers and find out what options they can give you to help you sell it. If they are legit then it is in there interest to help you
    I hope this helped
