Is it just me or are websites hosted by Hostgator down?

A few of my clients websites are done and they are hosted by Hostgator. Just wanted to check if it's just his sites or if any of you are having any problems as well.

      I have never had issues with hostgator.

      I find them a very good service in the time I have been using them

      which is around a year now.

    Always check with GTmetrix | Website Speed and Performance Optimization, or even the TOR network to test whether your sites are down or not...



    I have a boatload of sites on Hostgator without a problem at the moment...

    Test with gtmetrix and then let me know your status?

    I have been a HG customer for the last 3 years and can count on one hand the number of times they have been down. I think it's an awesome service. That being said, several marketers that I speak to on Facebook said they just recently mitigated a pretty large DDOS attack. So if your sites were on one of the affected servers then that's probably why they went down. I was lucky and mine did not go down - this time!

    It seems some of these DDOS attacks are strong enough to take down even the biggest and most powerful websites. GetResponse suffered one last weekend that took them offline for 4 days and even though they put some of the best protection in place they were hit again and taken offline for 2 days this past weekend again.

    Frankly, these DDOS attacks are downright scary to me.

    If you're using shared hosting, search your IP to see if it's the server down or your site. If it refreshes to some random site it means the server is fine and only your site is down.

    You can also use a site like this as well.
    Down For Everyone Or Just Me -> Check if your website is down or up?

    Lastly maybe try to refresh your cache.

      They do get down at times - I've had this issue a couple of times earlier, but their customer support has been very responsive always and my sites were up in a matter of hours on the same day.

    I had a few 'cannot connect to database' errors on some of my blogs recently. I have the basic reseller account. Before that no problems for many years.

    My clients sites are up and running. Contact Hostgator if you ave problems as they are super good and fast with their support.

    There was a website that will email you when your site goes down but can't remember what it was called but a google search may help. Really good if you manage clients websites.

    When I find all my sites are down (I have 3 dedicated servers with HostGator) it's usually a problem on our end - which translates to someone having forgot to update billing information

    Hostgator were taken over recently and since then there has been a lot of down time. We are moving all of our hosting because of this.
