How to change the background when i am recording with a webcam

Hi guys,

I am trying to find out a solution to remove the background of a video that i record with my webcam, in my case i use an Imac the integrated camera. So what i have in the background dont please me much, so i would like to change to a different background like a plain colour or an image or something like that.

Is this possible and simple to do it? i normally use quick time to record some videos to my Fiverr Gigs.

    I think it is possible to do that with green background and then removing the green with chroma key. There are several videos in youtube about Chroma key and green screen techniques. Check them out.

    Record your video against a plain background.

    Green is most commonly used because it's a less common clothing color. (except for on St. Patrick's day). Blue was once used allot as well but many items of clothing have blue in it (Jeans etc) so green is most popular today. (there are some other technical reasons as well, but that's another book).

    Once you record against a plain background, editing it out is fairly easy when you apply "chroma key" as mentioned above.

    This would be a feature that you would find in many video editing programs.

    If you however have already recorded the video with a busy background, this will become very tricky to remove, (but not impossible), and would require a very skilled editor.

    Hard to do if the background is not consistent such as a green screen. So you need to make sure you are filming infront of a solid background.
