Help!! PayPal Keeps Shutting Me Down. Desperately Need Help.

I have a product that is 100% legal and legit, yet PayPal doesn't like it.

They keep spying on my thing and limiting my account.

I keep on switching back to Google checkout, but they do not like me either.

The heat is on me, and I need to just do this without them clawing at me.

I need your help FAST.

The program I am using to deliver my files is e-junkie.

They can work wtih

Paypal, Google Checkout, Authorize.net, 2Checkout, and Clickbank

Of course the first two already have disapproved, along with 2checkout. I don't think clickbank would work either.

That leaves Authorize.net.

Is that a good option? Or should I completely change my shopping cart software?

ALSO --- is authorize.net a merchant account? OR just something akin to PayPal.

What the heck IS a merchant account? Sorry for the dumb questions -- I've just never really needed to know this stuff.

A merchant account is a lot more involved...you'll need business references, credit check etc. to get one opened. They can also be a lot more limiting in some ways. I have horror stories.

Authorize.net is a gateway for use with a merchant account, on its own it doesn't actually do anything.

What exactly is it they are upset about?

Either you have a very shady product or there's something wrong with your copy.

As an alternative you might want to try and get an high-risk merchant account. Unless you're selling organs you're likely to be accepted.

Dont ask me what my product is.

Dont worry about it, ok? In a nutshell, it just goes against their policy. They dont hate it, they just are not big fans, therefore have frozen me.

That is not the topic of this thread. I simply need to know how to continue accepting payments

It's going to be very difficult for anyone to give you a useful answer without knowing the product type. As in, what niche.

Without that, the best you're liable to get is, "Check them all, and read their acceptable product type listings."

Google and PayPal don't like what you are selling along with others??? If more than one payment system keeps denying you then it might be difficult finding another payment option that is legal. It's hard to recommend another payment system when we don't know what you are trying to sell as others have mentioned.

You need to go with a porn payment processor. Be prepared to pay a lot higher fees. CCBill is the gorilla. They charge 14%.

Well you won't tell us what the product is, but if all those processors won't touch you it can't be 100% legal or legit.

Whatever happens you will always be fighting the system, so I suggest you go for damage limitation and find an acceptable niche - which 99.999% are.

Looks like you're running out of options for payment. Sounds like a pretty shady product. A merchant account might be your only option left and they are a royal pain to get. You apply, you submit your whole life's story in paper, all kinds of ID, credit history, etc. Then, if they don't like you, you start all over with another company. Sounds to me like it would be in your best interest to start promoting something that doesn't raise red flags with Paypal and the others.

There are certainly products that are legal that paypal won't touch, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Examples are sex toys, infidelity products and membership sites, products about beating drug tests and DUI charges, weapons related products, crime and terror related products (Anarchist's Cookbook), etc.

He's just going to have to go with an adult payment processor, which will take anything.

      Good post Bruce.

My observation is though IM is all about running an efficient, long-term business, none of which is possible when wondering which processor will shut you down next.

Even if is a highly profitable product, you won't make much if you can't get your payments processed.

I notice 1ShoppingCart was not on the list, but I am sure they uphold high standards as well.

Bruce hit the nail on the head. This is probably a product that many payment
processors have a problem with, such as with porn.

Your only choice is to find a payment processor that will allow it. There are
no other options as other processors will just continue to shut you down
once they find out what you're selling.

In other words, you can't beat the system no matter how hard you try.

I agree that if you can't take payments, you don't have a business. But there are plenty of payment processors that will take payments for such products and you won't have to be worried about being shut down.

I looked in to this a few years ago when I had a product that skirted the edges we're discussing. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle, more because Clickbank wouldn't approve it than anything else.

No, I won't tell you the product either LOL!

I agree with the group. Is the product really worth it if nobody will process your money? I guess if you just want to give it away for free, that should be fine. LOL! Sounds like the porn processors might be the best bet.

Oh come on ... tell us
But that's the key ... how much hassle is it worth? I've worked with Dodgy products before but they were affiliate sales, so I didn't have to go through Paypal. I'm in IM for the long term so as another has said ... I'd rather build up a long term model that is smooth sailing.

Get a merchant account...it's a lot easier than you think to get one. Several do not require any business references or a good credit history.

First of all, NOBODY cares if it is "legal"! ******NOBODY******! They care if it is RISKY! Of COURSE, illegal stuff is risky! MLM is risky. Deception is risky. PORN and some other things fall into ANOTHER area! They are considered to have risk by PROCESSORS, so they have a higher "discount". THAT means that googles or paypals costs could LITERALLY QUADRUPLE! Do you think they want that? NO WAY!

ALSO, paypal will NOT allow certain drugs and EVEN supplements to be charged. MANY of those items are LEGAL and NOT risky(to the best of my knowledge), so GO FIGURE why they don't allow them.

Clickbank can NOT allow your product, because they go with paypal ALSO! It is DOUBTFUL, given that, that 2checkout will help though, as I recall, they WILL accept more risk, etc....

As for Authorize.net? It is NEITHER! It is a GATEWAY! That means that they will NOT allow you to charge credit cards! So what is a gateway? It allows you to hook to a processor that hooks to a merchant account and the MERCHANT account is a kid of LOAN account! They give you CREDIT(like a LOAN), at a DISCOUNT(AKA Interest rate) (like a LOAN). There are only 3 differences! ONE, a processor allows you to tie it to a persons credit card! TWO, THE OTHER person pays off your loan. Realize, that SOMEONE has to pay that loan BACK! If the other person refuses, it is called a chargeback, and YOU pay the loan back! Realize, the credit card company DOES loan you the money. You get it anytime from like 1 to 4 days from the charge, even though the other person may not have paid a PENNY! THEY have a certain period in which they can decline the charge.

Processors and merchant accounts must be willing to accept your business. And Authorize.net only works with certain processors, so authorize might not help you AT ALL! AND, if you are dealing with porn and some other things, your cost WILL go up! Remember, Authorize.net does NOT charge credit cards, so that billing, discount rate, and txn fee will NOT be in your charge. The merchant account issuer will charge for ANOTHER txn fee, billing fee, and discount rate.

One more thing. Legality will probably be determined based on US standards!!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing. I don't know if authorize.net has an HTML interface(I DOUBT they do, due to security they use), so you may need different software. ALSO, LAW, and common sense, require that you have an SSL cert(unless they allow you to use THEIR SSL cert), so that may be ANOTHER charge. It actually IS illegal to not have it, because it amounts to distribution of private info. ALSO, the credit card companies insist on it. FURTHER, anyone with half a brain will NOT buy from a non secured site as they would ALSO know that they are risking their credit. Clickbank, 2checkout, paypal, and google are ALL secured sites!

BTW you are getting some BAD advice. You can NOT sue, for example! IF you had PROOF that they authorized it, and made a LOT of sales over several months, MAYBE! Otherwise, FORGET IT! If you did that with paypal, you would look like an idiot jerk, and they would probably destroy you.

ALSO, 1ShoppingCart does NOT handle credit cards. They are a cart to facilitate methods like those shown above.

As for how hard merchant accounts are to get? In the late eighties, they were HARD to get! VERY hard to get! Any half way decent company today WILL check you out. I opened a paypal pro account(which is a GATEWAY), and wells fargo(their provider acting as processor and merchant account company) DID run my credit!!!!!! So, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it WAS a LOT easier. Risky accounts are HARDER to get, and cost MORE! And NOW, credit is harder to get! Some of my credit lines were cut in HALF, and the interest rates went up, and I am a GOOD risk.

Actually, we don't need to know. Curiosity dictates that we would like to know, but all we need to know is he's working with something that the processors don't like and what his alternatives are. The alternatives have been covered pretty well.

    It snot grossly illegal.

I've had lawyers look at my product. Its fine. But it does enable someone to do something bad.

Lets say its something such as How to Beat Drug test.

Thanks for your help, Bruce. You were the most useful person on this thread.
