Establish a CONVERSION RATE?!

Hey every one,

Omar Khan here. I am hoping to start by selling my brand new product soon. Since I will be using affiliates, however, I have been told it is important to establish your websites conversion rating.

I apologize for my ignorance on the matter, but how exactly do I go about doing that?

What I mean is, a conversion rate is established by seeing how many people went to your site and how many bought. And to get people to your site (to see how many will buy) you need affiliates to send them to your site. And affiliate wont work with you unless you already have a good conversion rate already.

Maybe I am looking at this all wrong. Please share your wisdom.

With Regards,
Omar Khan

Looks like you're going to have to do some testing on your own.

You'll have to generate visitors to that sales page yourself.

Take you pick of various traffic methods.

    Hope This Helps!!

    Omar,

Before recruiting affiliates it's a good idea
to establish your conversion rate by using
Pay Per Click traffic, or by testing your
    offer through your own list.

Not sure if you need this info also, but an easy (and free way) to test your conversion rates is to use Google Analytics.

I think it's always best to get a conversion rate from cold traffic (ppc, organic search etc), this way.. you don't have a prior relationship with the traffic and therefore you get a more realistic feel for the conversions...

Testing a product to your own list will almost always convert better than sending cold traffic to it..

Throw a couple hundred bucks of PPC at the page and see how it falls...

This allows you to give your future affiliates some numbers to work with and they may even be pleasantly surprised if they are running it to their own list, because it'll convert better than the cold traffic.. imho

    Peace

Also get a feel for your visitor value.

For example, how much profit do you make from 100 visitors? Say $100 but it cost you $10 in PPC to get them there. Then your visitor value is $0.90 per visitor.

    ($100 - $10) divided by 100 visitors = $0.90

That tells you how much you can spend on getting a visitor and still make a profit.

    Cheers,

Thanks a lot for the responses guys!

Is there any way I can pay/hire some one to send a set number of targeted people to my site and I establish a conversion rate that way?
