What happened to Google Chrome?

Hello everyone,

How is everything coming along? I hope all is well.

I am not sure if you are experiencing the same but my installed Google Chrome is acting weird. The moment I click on a certain link, 1 or 2 more windows will be opened containing ads, videos, and sometimes nude pictures. I am not sure if this is a certain setting.

Did you notice it as well?

Still making my research about it and considering re installing Google chrome.

If you have a solution on this, please share.

Thanks,
G.B.

Here is how you can fix the problem.

    Go to settings>extensions

Than delete everything except for ad block.

You probably downloaded some kind of add-on.

      Hi G.B.

I agree with Karol Z. But if that doesn't fix things, you may want to check for spyware or malware on your computer.

Try downloading "Spybot" and/or "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware"...

If you're getting lots of ads, that could definitely be the cause.

Also, did you recently install new software before you started seeing the ads? If so, consider uninstalling that software as well to see if that fixes things.

"Revo Uninstaller" is a great program I use that removes every little trace of any application. Clean registry, shortcuts, related files, etc.

One final tip, if none of the above works and you're using Windows, see if you have "System Restore" on your computer. And find a recent date (before you started seeing ads) to restore your computer to.

      Hope all that makes sense.

Karol is right, hence this doing, your problem do not solve, you can re-install your browser, Once I had seen this kinds of problem, then I re-installed my browser, then this problem is solved. I am sure, if you re-install the browser, the problem will be solved.

I had this too. It was caused by an extension. I don't know how the extension got there in the first place, but cleaning everything (or leaving just adblock) did solve this.

I guess the advice here is to never get Chrome from a source other than the official site.

It's probably not a Chrome problem. I had this happen several times. The last two I know I got from a re-targeting website I visited.

If cleaning extensions doesn't work try removing any un-known programs or sometimes they will add themselves to your "start page(s)."

Thanks a lot, guys for your input. You are all correct. A particular extension was the culprit.
