Can you use a ".net" domain for a dropship or affiliate site?

I wanted a domain name that is unavailable, but the .net version is, along with every other version possible.

Just not .com.

Would it be a bad idea to use the .net?

It would just be a regular wordpress site, but I didn't know if that caused any limitations or not?

  • You can use it it's just that some people if they hear or read it will type .com but not a huge number. If it's click marketing then it doesn't matter they just click. For SEO it's slightly better to have .com. Good luck.

The ".net" doesn't pose any limitations as it's simply the URL. The only disadvantage to a URL other than a ".com" is that they're not as trusted. ".com" domains look a lot more professional.

you can use any domain tld , .com is commercial, .info is information, .net is network and so on... but any extension will do the job. Commonly .net is second most popular extension. go with it.

I guess .net or even .org make sense for anyone ( sure .com still has a different impression for some people )

but compare to the .million domain name just released, i would say people would rather .net over others.

It is only direct traffic and word of mouth traffic. As someone said in an earlier post, most people that type the domain will automatically type .com

Another thing to consider that anyone searching for the particular name will probably get the .com first in the search results
