Sales & Marketing 30 yr Pro

I have been in Sales & Marketing for over 30+ years and had a laptop ever since 1979 when I was in Australia. So I know a little about Sales & Marketing and Technology.

It has amazed me that every facet of Business has been automated but not the Sales & Marketing process. Accounting, WordProcessing, Inventory Control, Shopping Carts, etc.

The actual Sales & Marketing process has not been automated to any degree. Now one can argue that Autoresponders, CRM, and people "touting Systems" Automate it but not really for if they did I'm sure there would be a lot more people who would be Promoting and Marketing these Automated Sales & Marketing "Niches".

Although I've reviewed most (I say most) of the Internet Marketing principles of "Relationship Marketing", "Attraction Marketing" etc. nothing new is under the Sun - One still has to "Close the Sale" and the same principles of the Sales Cycle are style part of the process and they are

1. Prospecting
2. Introduction
3. Qualifying
4. Presentation
5. Closing

Needless to say much of the preceding has been "dressed up differently" with the New Internet Marketing Techniques but when it boils down to it's common denominator one has to have "skills in each of the preceding areas in order to be successful.

I will discuss How some of these New Internet Tips & Techniques boils down to the preceding list and however one wants to "Mask it" Sales & Marketing will always boil down to a person honing the preceding Skills in order to be successful!

Hey Mike - I have been in sales, technology and marketing - my own companies - for 33 years, so is nice to meet someone that goes way back.

My main observation of IM is that it is so easy to enter, that all normal successful business practices are totally ignored.

In the bricks and mortar world proper business discipline is crucial to survival, even then it is tough - very tough.

    IM is too easy.

I know that might upset some people, but the truth is that the lack of entry barriers mean that people start IM businesses with no clue how to run a business - which is what it is all about - and many inevitably fail.

As I have said before - most entering IM treat it more like a casino.

Nice to have someone onboard who can bring real world experience to the table. That said I have only been here just over a week myself.
