Master's degree in Online Marketing?

Hi warriors,
This question might be off topic, but I want to hear or opinions.
I just graduated, and let's say I want to continue to a Masters degree in ONLINE MARKETING towards creating my own online biz. (most of it would be a scholarship)
Are there any good schools (U.S. preferred) offering this?
Is it worth it?

I'm interested in:
- Creating a high income/profit online biz
- Affiliate marketing, CPA, MOBILE, Entrepreneurial, lifestyle
- Education

Thanks for your valuable input!

To be honest I think access to the War Room and learning by doing is better than getting a masters in online marketing. The amount you can learn from places like this and from trying things out is huge.

Off topic, but, do you feel unethical/dirty providing an assignment writing service?

      In my opinion, it's disgusting.

The best teachers are books, forums and experiments.
Nothing more. Every marketer thinks by his own way. The most important is to learn to think by YOUR own way and make your own strategies. Teachers won`t teach you that.

    I have two questions.

How many people who said to not get a masters would say not to get a bachelors?

How many people who would suggest someone not to get a bachelors in marketing has a bachelors?

    Curious

      Curious
There's a big difference between a bachelor's in marketing and one in online marketing.

A company isn't going to give you a job in their marketing department with no education. They're not going to allow some random to get on the job training and play with their budget.

On the other hand, you can start online marketing today for minimal costs and learn hands on. There's no barrier to entry and the point is to work for yourself anyways. People thinking about buying the product you created don't care about what school you went to.

Then, if you decide for whatever reason that being your own boss isn't for you and want to get a job with a firm, you simply point out all the sites you've built, businesses you started, and campaigns you led and your experience puts you ahead of the person fresh out of school with a generic marketing degree.

Like most things, you really don't need a degree to do them well. There is a tendency for very academic people to want to have some sort of qualification in something to prove they are good at it. Having skin in the game is the only real qualification.

Forget a masters degree stop learning and start doing. I agree with all the warriors that told you to learn from here.

Don't you realise the treasure this forum is. It is like having thousands of mentors, all in one place.

Make use of real life experience and apply what you learn. Otherwise you will end up in paralysis of analysis. in other words always learning and never doing.
There is nothing like getting in and actually doing it.

I don't think it's a waste of time getting a degree. I'm not sure what program you are talking about that offers a degree like that, but the fact is damn few people make it online as independent marketers. Much more to it than just learning from the War Room or just hanging out here on this forum.

If you have the opportunity and it's a good program, do both. It's not like getting a degree in online marketing and learning online marketing here is in conflict.

You're likely to hear very biased opinions in this forum. If you ask a group of people who graduated from a master's degree in internet Marketing, you'd get vastly different responses. For me, I'm very proud of my master's degree in IM. Studying a master's degree, or anything really, opens a lot of doors. I do agree that the Warrior Forum is a great resource, though, and that postgraduate studies are not for everyone.

Honestly don't get a degree bro.
There is a WORLD of information there available
from people who actually DO THIS STUFF for a living.

A degree, will just be taught by a 60k a year professor
who only teaches this stuff, and has never done anything
    with it.

There is a HUGE difference between book smarts,
    and APPLIED KNOWLEDGE.

And lets just say the LATER will win every single freaking time.

Not to mention you can learn everything you need right
here on the forum, for (in many cases) completely free
of charge. (For example in the war room or any of the other
    thread sections)

If you try to get a degree, you'll be paying that lil bugger off
    for quite some time.

So I suggest you just take what is already available to you here,
and not just the information ... the COMMUNITY.

And I promise you (if you apply what you learn with persistence)
    you will go places.

Here's an important question NOBODY asked.....

WHY DO YOU WANT A MASTERS IN ONLINE MARKETING

The answer to that question helps us answer YOUR question.

Without it, any advice you get (such as "get a war room membership") is a shot in the dark and quite frankly is BAD (if not outrageously negligent) advice if you want to do something like, say, teach?

It matters WHY you want the masters so tell us.

As an example, I do not need my degrees to sell my courses and coach my clients. That's been proven.

BUT.... I also teach classes at the college level. Do I need a degree for that?

You bet your ass I do.

It's a strange thread, in some ways. It isn't anyone's "fault", but I think there's absolutely no direct, personal experience in it at all.

I'm sure that many good, valid and reasonable points have been made, above. But rarely, if ever, have I seen a thread quite so full of people urging someone not to do something which apparently none of them has actually done themselves. I haven't done it, either. But - like the OP - I'd actually be quite interested in hearing the views and experiences of some people who have, rather than being able to see only information from other people who have no personal experience of it. It's perhaps a little bit one-sided, isn't it?

I did/passed an Diploma in Digital Marketing (CIM/CAM) a couple of years ago (avatar). Quite enjoyed most of it. The module (full weekend) on mobile marketing was an eye-opener... bit like playing one one's mobile device all weekend - with the theory and reason of "MARCOMMS" applied.

You will find more than enough information in the War Room to become a master of online marketing. Or you could sing up for coaching with a successful online marketer.

Some people were able to make a full-time income by following the steps in a simple $7 ebook, so you don't necessarily need a master's degree to be successful with online marketing and I wouldn't recommend it.

My biggest objection to MS/MA in IM is the information will never be current. By the time a curriculum is created and approved by 'god know who', the information will be obsolete. HOW is what you learn going to be meaningful to your future in 2 years. B/T mobile and IoT will revolutionize everything.

The marketing need more experience as compare to study. The graduation or master degree is good for understanding marketing techniques but small courses backed with certificate are more useful for marketers. diploma in business online is very useful.

I'll throw a pipe wrench the spokes here just because I think it's FUN to do that.

    FIRST

I DO NOT believe that one NEEDS a degree to build mind blowing wealth. The proof of that ghastly statement is EVERYWHERE. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that if you're not carefully..... some of the "thinking patterns" taught in the scholastic environment can get in the wayof ones quest to build wealth. Sometimes building wealth requires some heavy duty "out of box" thinking - a process not often emphasized in some majors.

    BUT

I am a HUGE proponent of higher education, having been through it, because of the more well rounded critical thinking person an education makes it's recipient. I'm such a believer in it, I stay involved in the local collegiate community - and happily paid a large sum for MY education.

Now it is my younger sister's turn and I'm happily supporting her.

In fact, she knows that going through college in an expectation. (I understand that for some it may not be an option but that's another topic.)

If she wants a War Room membership..... I'd happily buy her one. If she wants a War Room membership IN LEU OF schooling? Well.... I'd happily kick her ass.

Study first, if you have means available.... THEN start selling.

The perceived value of a degree lies in the piece of paper that comes with it. Implying that the knowledge and experience that comes with it justifies its 6-figure price tag is absurd. There's nothing proprietary or ground-breaking about the things they teach, you'd be better off learning from people who actually run businesses.

HOWEVER, and this is a big however, I'm saying this under the assumption that like me, long-term employment is not something you'd EVER consider and building a business is your ultimate goal.

Be honestly, I want to tell you, Your decision is great. I think, if you want to learn online marketing then you can't need any bachelor degree, Just need "wish". If you want to learn about online marketing then you can try to reading any online marketing book and try yourself. You can see any tutorial and any listening. You can attend any online marketing conversion,. And all are you get from searching Google. So My opinion, For learning online marketing, you do not need any Bachelor degree.

I was considering getting a degree from Full Sail University via their online program. They have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Internet Marketing I believe. This was a few years back. What stopped me from applying was my friend who had just completed his degree there and kept getting the same response from employers: degrees from Full Sail do not hold the same standard of accreditation that other universities hold. Basically, his degree wasn't seen as valuable because his school was not accredited properly.

This was 3 or 4 years ago. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't attend college for an IM degree. This industry changes so often that by the time you graduate with a degree like that, most of what you learned is bound to be outdated.

    That's just my two cents.

If you're planning to work for a company as an internet marketing or social media specialist, then you might consider a Masters degree. It would add credibility to your resume. And, if you feel like it would be a good investment of time and available on scholarship (such as you would not be paying out of pocket), then why not go for it? After all, if it's not costing you, then it's one more degree you can add to the list that might ensure a job in the real world, rather than just online.
