How do i make an ebook online for people to read?

Probably a very simple question so apologies in advance!

If i were to get subscribers, and i set up an auto-responder...if i wanted a link so readers could click and open up a pdf, how do I go about setting that up?

Do i have to create a pdf and upload it somewhere? or are there sites that just display text how you wish, to readers who you provide a link to?

Any guidance would be appreciated here !

Alan

Most I have seen just go the PDF route.

    Hello Alan,

I believe this article will answer your questions (and not only those which have you asked in your post, but also many of those which would arise later).

    It really varies.

If you are doing this as your giveaway, you can actually send it as an attachment in the autoresponder e-mail you send them. You can also add it as a page/file on your website depending on what your site structure is. If you are using a lower end host that restricts your monthly traffic and the PDF is larger, I would host it somewhere else. I use S3 for some stuff, but others might have other suggestions.

Hi there you should save the ebook in PDF format since that's the most convenient way for sharing online.

Upload that PDF online, it could be on your server, or any file sharing website. I host it on dropbox because I don't want to lose bandwidth.

Then create a page hidden from everyone and put the link to download.

Then when someone signs up for your mailing list, send them to a thank you page (the page where you have the download link)

See how I have did that: How to Setup Your First Money Making Website – Download Free Report

I have 2 download links because most people complained that dropbox link stopped working, so I added a link to scribd.

Hope this all helps, for any more help you can feel free to ask!

    Sincerely,

If you don't want to go the website route, consider Amazon S3
It's sort of like cloud hosting. There is a free version that is plenty big enough. You upload your files there, then it gives you a link you can use like a url. Only when someone clicks it, the pdf goes right into a reader in the browser.

You can redirect to any link you wish from an autoresponder when they enter their information. So no, you do not need an ebook.

You can also host an ebook that they can access after entering in information.

If it's a book you don't mind anyone having then put it on Scribd or similar document depositories - including Google Drive if you have a gmail account. Each of the sites will give you a download link directly to that document. The advantage here is that a lot more people can find your document and if you have links to your site embedded within the document you can be found. The documents will also be searchable (if they're not password protected) and add to your site's SEO.

Alternatively, still use the depositories but mark the document as private. You'll still get a link to it but it won't be searchable.

I'm using the top technique to build my brand. I have a list of a dozen depository sites and I'll add more as I find them. By using Viral PDF Master the documents pop a new reader over to a squeeze page before they start reading (optional sign-up).

    Hey Alan...

Another option would be to create the PDF and send it as an attachment to your list.

But there's one thing you should be aware of…

Sending attachments from autoresponder programs tend to get blocked more than emails that do not have attachments.

So, I would suggest doing what others have mentioned and hosting the document either on a cloud service or on your site (if you have one).

But sending it as an attachment is a viable option if you do not want to take one of the other delivery routes.

Uploading a pdf to your web-site and giving direct link to it like example.com/yourname.pdf is quite different from "e-book". The latter is a book in everything except of paper -with ISBN and all other publishing stuff.

As to the process I'd recommend the variant of uploading to site and sending links. Not vise versa if your site promotion is important.

    1) Write the ebook in word.

    2) Save the doc. as a pdf. (it will be one of the options when you go to save-as)

    3) upload the pdf in your media manager of your website. (if you have one) Other wise you will need it host it elsewhere. Drop box may be an option. Redirect your subscribers to your drop box link.
