So today I wanted to try something a little different. So I went online on ebay and looked for iphone deals. I found an Iphone 4, for only $100 on ebay. I bought it and put an ad up on craigslist for $200. It got sold within 3 hours! It was so easy!

    Perfect buy low sell high.

Be careful on the refurbished iphone thing, can get burned very easily.

    $200 for an iPhone 4?!

I was able to get one for $50 a year ago.

Do you sell them overseas or something?

No. I sold it on craigslist. You got a good deal dude...most iphone 4's are being sold for $180-$250 on ebay.

That's actually a really good idea! Will do my research on the prices for iphone's and cell them on eBay. I live in Florida and just about everyone here either has an iphone or a Samsung Galaxy.

Great job this is such a great way to make some fast cash. Of course, it is scary sometimes to buy something and resell it later on since the chances of someone buying it can be scarce. However, if it's an iPhone or any Apple product, usually it can be sold easily on sites like CL! Congrats'

That's funny because I just started with this again yesterday to make money since nothing else was working for me. Today I spotted an iphone 4 att unlocked for 80 bucks 16GB. These sell for
Over $200! I wanted to go buy it right away but the lady says tommorow. I hate that.
I cannot tell you how many deals I lost because someone else makes a better offer.
There are tons of deals like this on craigslist but the good bargains go FAST!
By the way the guy who got the iphone for 50 bucks price depends on gigabyts
A 32 or 64 gig phone sells for way more than 8 gb also if its unlocked

And what was the value of your time ? Shipping charges etc ? Lets break this down, it took a half hour to find something to sell... You purchased it on E-bay... Than list the product on C.L. add some more time.

Now you have to wait for the I-phone to be shipped to you. Open the package and check it was not damage in packing or shipping... Next arrange to contact the guy from Craigs List and either meet him in person or re-pack the I-phone and send it to him. All which takes time hopefully.. If you shipped it to the CL guy he has paid you before he disappears.

. Not bad but that is not your true profit.. Their is some more time involved which involves packing and shipping costs or gas money to meet CL buyer or arrange him to come to you personally. Just a few things to think about.

Still nice job on your sale.

You can make gads of money, but from what I have heard, if you make a mistake on the front end, you can easily get burned. Unfortunately, if your first phone shipment is full of broken or unusable phones, your going to have some problems recouping your money. If you start off slow though, you know 1 phone at a time like you did, you'll probably do fin

Be careful, last month I saw a news story that was very disturbing related to Craig's List. A buyer went to meet a seller to purchase a laptop. The supposed buyer was looking over the laptop and quickly turned and ran out to a waiting car that picked him up and sped away stealing the laptop.

In another Craig's list story, someone came to test drive a camero to see if they liked it. They did, so the supposed buyer shot and killed the owner and took the camero.

First thing, notice how the buyer arrives and have a second person with you secretly take a picture of the cars license plate and the buyer before they realize what is going on. This happens as you greet the buyer so it goes unnoticed. Tell them that you want to meet at a public place like a busy McDonalds and ask what kind of car they will be driving so you can locate them easily. You could also pull up behind them blocking them in until the transaction is over. Never hand something into the car if they can drive away. Ask them to get out of the car if you did not block them in. Having strangers come to your house may not be wise. Always be friendly and hospitable, but do all transactions on your terms to be safe. This is how I do it when I resell sports tickets. I always engage in small talk about the team they are going to see and make the buyer feel that I appreciate their business, but I always maintain a stern body language and have created a sense that I am in control of the situation in case the buyer had any intentions of pulling any BS.

1.You'll do a lot of haggling. CL is full of really ghetto people.

    2. At least in my city, CL sell below ebay prices or it's so close that the labor will not be worth the margin.

Best way of doing this in my opinion and finding the good deals on craigslist or haggling with people who need cash fast. Then wind up reselling it for a nice profit on craigslist.

I have been doing this completely full time for 5 years! There are tons and tons of others ways besides CL to get these phones too! CL is usually the least profitable way because there is so much competition as well as someone that takes the time to try and retail their phone is usually aware of the approximate value.

When buying phones you want to find people that have them laying around bc they severely undervalue them!

You did all of that in the same day? Did you pick up the phone from the ebay seller?

Because then that would make sense as to why you got such a good price.

I did something similar when I was a teenager. But the electronics niche didn't really suit me, because I had a few bad deals with faulty items, and then that was followed by paypal issues, due to a complaint from a customer.

Wasn't worth the hassle for me.

As someone else mentioned, it's easy to get burned.

However, forget the negativity... If it's working for you, stick at it. I'm just warning you. But if you're selling on craigslist, it cuts out the paypal issue anyway.

I too began by buying devices on CL and reselling on ebay and amazon and I personally didnt like the hassle of it. Fraud, limits, holds, etc, causes you to need a lot more capital.

I like to buy devices and sell to bulk buyers that then sell overseas.

Usually people on craigslist want to buy things locally so did you wait until you actually received the phone before you sold it or did you sell the phone without even having it in your possession?

Have any of you ever watched "The People's Court?"

Most of the cases originate on CL.

Buying products you know nothing about (because no one ever sells junk on Ebay ) and passing it on to unsuspecting buyers is a recipe for disaster. Good luck with that.

If you want to build a real, sustainable business, you might want to keep looking.

Sustainable? I've been buying and selling since 1968. Is that sustainable?

Sure, it has always been buyer beware. And as you point out, there could be conflict, especially when selling something defective and/or doesn't work like the ad says.

But buying and selling, now called "picking" by some, or "chatteling" by others is the oldest profession in the book.

As long as we're watching TV, tune into the Pawn Shows, American Picker, the Storage Wars, the antique shows...and you'll see buying and selling is a HUGE enterprise. Like so many things, it depends on how you go about doing it.

It is NOT new. It is done everyday by millions of people via Ebay, Craigslist, classified ads in newspapers, etsy, TV shows and on line.

Today, there is a way for ANYONE to make that 100 bux a day with their local craigslist. NOT just with eye phones, but with ordinary everyday chattel or personal property, like bikes, curtains, coffee machines, etc.

AND, for those who want sustainable income, a 1000 dollar a day deals are not uncommon.

YES, it helps if you know what you are doing. Nothing new here. Nothing spectacular or even a need for lawsuit if you just do what you do with integrity and honesty and make a profit by simply buying over there, and selling over here. Been done for centuries.

      gjabiz

PS. NO, won't ever be a WSO on the subject, I wrote the "bible" on chatteling over 15 years ago, hundreds of people do it everyday whom I've taught. Millions do it on their own.

Cool, although I'd describe that more as a "job" than a "business" . . . I'd define a business as something which can be outsourced or sold . . . if YOU need to do it, then it's really a "job" and personally, I very much want a business not a job

Of course, it might well be possible to outsource that approach . . . pay one person to buy under-valued things on Ebay and another to sell them elsewhere. One might be able to get programmers to write an automation script to determine the real value of things (from sale prices) so one knows what is being sold too cheap, etc. Might be worth doing.
