Are product targeted websites (one product websites) still profitable

i remember back in the day that you could build a website like turtle beach xp7 headphone review. Rank them and get commissions on affiliate sales.

Do these still work?

The exact match domain still helps you in google. Links pointing to your site will naturally have your keywords into the anchor text, which is also an important factor in google algorithm. If you do not use spammy link building tactics then you should do better than other domains if you go for long tail. However, you can also achieve this if you have a short domain with a page with the exact long term key phrase that you want to rank for. Maybe it will not have the same impact as domain has, but you don't have to buy a new domain for every long tail keyword you want to achieve, and if you have more on the same domain maybe one will help another to rank better.

Yes, it's still profitable. You can build several content on your site, only if there's a lot of things to say about the product you're promoting. Still works for SEO too. You just need to have really valuable content for that.

Does it still "work"? Yes, most likely. Is it the right way to go in 2014? Not so sure... This idea of spending the bare minimum of time, money and effort on your sites is really starting to get obsolete (at least I think so). It's a LOT harder to rank and stay ranked than it was when these micro sites first started popping up. That said, the effort is indeed minimal, so there's absolutely no harm in trying. Don't expect your first try to be a success though...

That sort of site would still work in my opinion. Obviously it would not be great for SEO as there would not be any fresh content rolling in on the site.

If you are going to set up a site for a single affiliate product, then you will probably have to market it heavily using Google Adwords, or Facebook ads as it will not get a lot of exposure otherwise.

To be honest, I prefer doing my own products. If I am doing affiliate marketing, I prefer to put people into someone's list if they have their whole sales funnel sorted and I can get commission on everything that is sold!

    Hope this helps!

Of course its still profitable and always will be. You just have to make sure that your targeting the right venue (marketing channel) and your landing pages are setup to convert your target audience.

If your targeting "xp7 headphones" then make sure your landing page has a ton of content with xp7 headphones sprinkled throughout the body copy, along with xp7 headphone images.

On the other hand, if the body copy and images are pertaining to "general headphones" or headphones created by similar products, then you really can't expect to sell too many as your not correctly targeting your audiences needs and desires.
