I am planning on marketing to mothers fitness niche do you think a male can do this successfully?

Hi Warriors,

I've been involved in internet marketing for around 6 years, I am planning on launching a site focusing on helping mothers overcome their fitness/health issues.

I have ideas for content coming out of my ears along with how I will get the traffic I want. However, I am not a fitness pro but can develop good content around the subject to help people with their issues.

My main red light on starting this venture is that I want to create podcasts, video content and really put a name and face to the project, do you think as a male without a formal qualification I can build authority marketing to women in this niche?

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

PS. I do have experience in personal weight loss and keeping a fit and healthy lifestyle after the initial weight loss, as I went from being 6 stone overweight to my target weight within a year and have completely transformed my whole diet and lifestyle and kept this up for around 4 years.

Yes, I would definately say that you could.

There are lots of woman who have personal trainers that are men. They chose to have a man as their personal trainers aswell. As long as you provide good content, then why not?

    Good luck..

Yes a male can have great results: marketing its about understand how your target audience thinks, feels and react.

You must wear your target audience shoes for a while and then create all your campaign.

Thanks for your input its appreciated, I know a lot of women have male personal trainers but my issue is that I don't have the formal qualifications, but can definitely help my target audience. Do you still think this can be achieved, or do you think women would want that formal qualification?

        yes Yes and YES!

I used to be a personal trainer, and about 98% of my clients were women.

(who all wanted to lose weight, and many were moms)

Besides the fact that they thought I looked like Justin Timberlake...

I've noticed that women love connecting with another male when it comes to weight loss.

While IM in the fitness niche might not be as 'personal' as personal training...

It's something you can definitely do !

    I agree with everyone else.

Richard Simmons, Billy Blanks, and Beto Perez (guy that created Zumba) are probably the most dominant figures in that market over the last 30 years.

My guess would be that your hurdle won't be that you are male. The hurdle to overcome is not understanding how hard it is to do the things you suggest when you are also trying to raise kids and manage the household. If you can connect with them on that point you are probably golden.

Make sure you take into account that they may need to be up at 5am to start and get school lunches together, backpacks ready with homework and items needed for the day, not to mention getting the kids dressed all while getting themselves put together for the day. When they get home from work they have to get dinner on the table, make sure the kids do homework and tucked in to bed. Instead of getting a minute once the kids are asleep they have to figure out what housekeeping they need to do, what bills need to be paid, what shopping needs to be done and take care of any work she may have brought home from the office. In that hectic schedule, where does she fit in the hour workout you want her to do? When does she have time to prep the fresh fruit and vegetables you suggested for the meal? How does she handle the fact that her kids think the meals you suggest are gross?

My wife and I tag team on the kids and housework and do manage to find some times to fit in workouts, but I know my wife would never connect with anyone that does take into account the craziness of day to day life.

I think the main issue is lifting women's self-esteem, highlighting importance of their role as mothers and supporting their ambition to look good.
As a woman myself, I would go to a male fitness specialist with this. This would motivate me even better than an instructor's knowledge (which is important to establish trust)
      That's my opinion
