New blog for kids - how to market it?

Hey Warriors!

I would really like to read your tips, ideas and suggestions about our project. We are targeting kids, aprox. 10 to 14 yrs old.

We are making a blog all about a cartoon character that we have created. He will be the core. Blog will contain stories about him, his friends, his challenges and life lessons learned along the way - funny and educational.

It will be also our brand for some of our products that we will add in the process (puzzles, T-shirts, books,...).

We are contemplating how to market it. It is kind of a new niche for us, so we need to come up with the plan how to introduce it to the market.

Is it better to target directly the kids or their parents?
What online marketing channels would be the best?
How would you do it, if you would start with such project?

    There are a lot of kids on social media these days. Being 18 myself I know that this is where they will spend the majority of their time. I would start out with facebook but also try to target the parents in some way too

    Target both the parents and kids. The parents have the purchasing power, and the kids will give you the traffic. It is a very good niche, use the rich keywords to optimize on your targeted traffic.

    Better chances on social platforms as there are lots of kids of that age range are on FB, instagram and such. From there, you can attract them to your website.
    Since it's a blog on a cartoon character that you are planning to do, why not check out some of the popular webcomics online for some ideas?
