Clickbank sales alert

by mojoisland 26 replies
Hi everyone,
I've been thinking of coming up with a new app that would extract Clickbank sales information for users and then send them a text message alerting them of new sales in their Clickbank account. Since many of us either market products on Clickbank or have products on Clickbank, I thought this would be a good place to see what everyone thought. I look forward to any and all comments and feedback.

Thanks!

I'd be really interested. It'd be great to receive notifications on affiliate commissions through Clickbank.

I'm surprised people are so interested in this- why do you want to get interrupted like this, unless there is a problem that needs your attention?

I make more sales when I check my sales stats only once per day.

I am also curious why people would want to pay to be interrupted like this.

Is there some specific thing you need to do the minute another sale comes in? If not, why do you need to know about it right then?

    Hi Robert/Mojo

I think your product has great appeal for the novices who are anxious to see if they have made a sale in any one day and those who are getting just a few sales.

But as soon as people get used to having a whole bunch of daily sales, this becomes an interruption and they'll turn it off. Yet this provides several opportunities for YOU:

1- There are more novices than pros. So the 'novelty' market is large and the same group will pass on the same 'novelty' idea to each other, which makes it even better for you.

2- If you add an extra function for the owner to choose the intervals then they could set the software to "collate" the data and send updates, once aday at the selected time.

This will increase the appeal of your product to the more experienced people. And it will stop the novice marketers that graduate to the big(ger) league from shutting it down ... that in turn will mean you still have their attention for the future upgrades and add-ons (merchant accounts, Paypal, CJ, etc).

Those future uprades will increase the appeal to the more seasoned marketers. In just one software they can get a snap shot of their sales in all their various accounts.

3- You will build a fabulous and valuable list of fresh marketers.

The possibilities there are endless (for you). So if you do this thing, do it fast and practically give it away - the list will be far more valuable than the income from the product. Also build some form of viral thing into it. Example: when anyone gives their product serial number to others as a discount coupon or promo code, the new buyer gets 25% off and the referrer gets 25% commission. This'll build that list even faster.

I have to say though the (initial) product does not appeal to me but the idea does. But that "snapshot picture" does certainly appeal.

    Good luck
    Sami

Sounds like a good idea. Once you get it up and running, I'm sure it'll be a popular affiliate destination like CBengine.

The trouble with any sales notification service is this.

The vendor could also put in place a carbon copy notification to themselves, imagine setting up a system that was used by thousands of affiliates. All the sales data was sent to the system vendor. This information would be worth its weight in gold as it would highlight great niches and products.

The only safe system would be one made available by clickbank themselves....
