There is an art to article marketing. And it is quite possible to create powerful articles in quick time.

The one thing I would add to the OP's post is the importance of research.

You only have to do research once per subject. Get it right, and you can create plenty of hot articles in very quick time...

I like the way you concisely explained the basics of writing articles. Good job. I feel that many people perceive article writing as being a daunting task - perhaps they perhaps worry that their writing should be at a higher level than what is the norm for simple online articles.

Good article writing is a skill - but it is one of those things that improves over time - the more you write the better you become at putting together reader-friendly articles, and those are the ones that will get read. I always encourage ample research before beginning an article on something you are less than familiar with. As mentioned, if you thoroughly research a topic one time you can write countless articles with that same information - and those articles should be used in various ways and then re-purposed in order to get the biggest benefits from them. Use them as web content, blog content, ecourses, free give away to entice sign ups, etc., and compile them into reports or ebooks. They can also be turned into an audio format or used to create video content.

That's what I appreciate about writing - it is a skill that offers numerous possibilities when it comes to IM - from promotion to product creation, it is definitely a worthwhile task!

I really like Ebizman87's idea about limiting the amount of articles you write per day especially if you find article writing to be a challenge. For myself, I work better when only writing 3-5 articles per day. My brain just shuts down for writing and is useless after 5 articles.

Another tip that I've found useful is to go to the local library and get books out on the subject. You don't have to read the entire book, just look for sections that you find interesting. For some reason getting away from the computer and Internet makes me more creative and it's easier to write articles after seeing the information in a "fresh" light. Sometimes I even take my laptop to the library and write the articles as I'm sitting there.

I agree - I often use books for research - but my preference (other than online sources) is magazines. The topics are current and you can get an idea for titles and presentation styles that are already 'proven' to be winners.

Another good way to quickly write articles is to use the "feel, felt, found" method.

First pick a problem that your product/book/cd will solve. Then tell the reader that you know how they "feel" then explain the situation and tell them that you "felt" the same at times, then describe the solution that you "found".

It can be used very well when added to the above ideas.

Very nice tips for writing fast articles. I'll add these 2 pieces to the puzzle...

1. Leave your readers hungry for the really good stuff behind the curtain (after clicking your link). This takes some practice, but if you really want to jack up your click-thru rate and drive a lot more traffic, it's a big key. You want to deliver the goods, but end each article with an enticing call to action for the really juicy stuff on your site.

If the article's about dog training, for example, give out some solid advice, then end the article with something like: "Try the tips I've just spelled out. I think you'll find they work as well for you as they do for me. Now, if you really want a dog that will obey you every single time, check out the amazingly effective dog training tips (link here) found here."

You get the idea. People who have stuck with your article to the very end have come to see you as at least a bit of an authority, so strike while that iron is hot by telling them to visit your site and also telling them that the really good stuff is found there.

2. Backlinks. You gotta get 'em. For every article you write, take that same keyword and try to get at least 10 good backlinks pointing to your article. Should take almost no time at all. The difference between barely on Page 1 at Google and in the top 3 at Google is huge. Sometimes (if you've picked good keywords) all it takes is a handful of backlinks to rise that high. It can be "make or break" for your success.

Here's another way to get more mileage out of the article.

Get a free trial of Camtasia, turn your article into a powerpoint presentation, Camtasia has a powerpoint plugin, and then submit your video to Tubemogul.com and blast it across all the major video sites.

Now you have 20x as many links as you would've otherwise had...

It depends on how often the page the link is on gets spidered by the search engines. This is why getting links on higher PR sites is so important. This is one of the big reasons why article marketing works so well in the first place, because take a site like EzineArticles... their homepage has a PR of 6. When you submit an article there and it gets approved, it gets a link on that homepage for a day or so, which surely gets spidered by the search engines multiple times per day. I've written articles about obscure keywords with virtually no competition and had them show up where I can easily find them in Google SERPs within one day.

So that's one issue here. The other about how long it takes for links on other sites to start working, I guess no one can say with authority who doesn't have inside info at the major engines. But I think a link starts having some positive effect virtually from the moment the spiders find it and follow it. I've seen articles vault from like #100 to the top 10 within a week or two from just a handful (less than 10) properly formatted backlinks. And most of them have stayed there (or even risen) long after the so-called "QDF" effect would have worn off.

So much of this is utterly dependent on picking the right keywords, though. I cannot stress enough how crucial it is for any article marketer who wants immediate results to learn how to do proper keyword research BEFORE he/she starts churning out and submitting articles all over the place. It is the one skill that separates success from failure for most article marketing newbies.

If you're trying to write fast, I'd recommend using a timer. I like to use 10 minutes. Pick your three points as the OP mentioned and use that as a framework. You don't need very many words on each point before you've got a 250-300 word article. You can even re-use the point itself as a subtitle, thus breaking up the text blocks, making the article a bit more pleasing to the eye (no one likes huge blocks of text without breaks) and readable.

For research - go to Amazon and type in your keywords, see what comes up on the best seller list, or on the related items list. Most times you can browse the table of contents for the books right on the spot. This is a great source of new topic ideas.

Oh - another tip if you're aiming for speed - DON"T GET STUCK ON EDITING!! This is a huge time waster. Train yourself to write decently well the first time, and then live with the result. If you're always going back and editing you'll add 50-100% of the time you spent writing the article.

ebizman87 - saw the title of this thread and was ready to come in and read you a riot act........but you actually gave some good advice here.

I'm a bit reserved on the keyword issue though.....sure they need to be there but it's real easy to over-do keyword stuffing and ruin the article. You have to remember your reader.....if it isn't interesting, they are going to click off and if you are stuffing keywords you can easily destroy the interest factor. I prefer natural writing.

Nice strategy I will incorporate it into my cuurent strategy and hopefully save on time. Article marketing is rewarding so if you haven't written any articles it's never too late to get started!

Great tip. It's important to organize your thoughts first before you hit the keyboard. Sticking to one subject and expounding it in greater detail is better than trying to discuss an entire subject with little depth and no substance.

You can cut down the time you're taking to write article by using this technique.I've cut down mine drastically.

What & how much are you researching to write a 300 word article? Once you count intro and conclusion, you're really only talking about 200-225 words left of real content.

Then when you take the points that the OP made into consideration, chances are you can come up with them off the top of your head.

A benefit? Easy... what are you promoting? A dog training program? Ok, here's a benefit - have a puppy that obeys your every command when you're taking him for a walk. That's 15 words. Anybody can elaborate on that without research into a 50-75 word paragraph.

Unless you're totally, 100% completely brand new to a niche, chances are your "research" is going to be looking to find what others have already written.

People don't need to know what others have already written, and the fact is, knowing that won't help you one bit either.

Your research should be as follows: perhaps an hour of general immersion into the niche when you first enter a niche - find out who the players are, what the lingo is, the general idea of who/what/when/where/why/how of what goes on in that niche.

Now, down to the article level - you need to do some research to find out what keywords you're going to target.

Ok, so you've got general knowledge, and a keyword. That's enough to write an article on.

Take the three points the OP mentioned, or if you want as yourself the same who/what/when/where/why/how regarding your keyword. You should easily come up with 3 points from that exercise.

Now you simply write on those three points.

Remember - you're not writing Shakespearean prose, and neither are you writing white papers for engineers. The purpose of your articles is to get your link in front of eyeballs. Nothing more, nothing less. I've seen articles that don't contain a lot of *real* information per se still drive good click volume.

Conclusion - if you really truly want to write articles fast, you need to disengage your brain, if you can believe it. At least the part that criticizes yourself. You need to follow a system, which the OP has given you here, and just do it. You need to just write, and then post. Spending an hour researching and then a half hour editing, and you're defeated before you started because of the way you're thinking.

I have been going to yahoo answers and rewriting the questions and answers into articles. I think it is good way to come up with topics people are already looking for.

Good ideas here. My lazy way to write articles is with Dragon Naturally Speaking.
I can type pretty fast, however I can talk even faster so it makes writing much
easier for me.

I have also found that what I am thinking seems to disappear from my mind when
I try to type. Anyone else have this problem. Guess I just have a short attention
span. By talking my articles, it makes it much easier for me.

Thanks alot man! I've been researching ways that I could pump out high quality articles in the shortest time possible. So-far this is exactly what I've been looking for.

As marketers sometimes we discount the simple for the overly complicated. Hi-5 for Keeping it Simple Stupid!

In my opinion, article marketing is a numbers game. To maximize your return, you've got to write a post many articles, preferably in your main area or expertise. This means coming up with a system for rapid article production... which means keeping them shorter rather than longer... and that's exactly ebizman87 has revealed here. It's a powerful, yet simple system.

As with any writing project, you can only "write" one at a time. But you can map out a whole bunch of them in advance. I like to work with round numbers. Ideally, I plan out 100 articles at a time. With a map for each, the individual writing is quick and easy.

One way is to start with plenty of keywords. I like to have 2-3 times as many as I need for 100 articles. Some just don't fit. So having lots to choose from makes the process easier.

With 100 potential keywords, I then craft 100 titles. This is easy when you plug in some of traditional headline approaches like Why... How To... 3 Secrets of... and so on. I keep hundreds of possibilities on a sheet in front of me.

I do the same with introductions and conclusions. Keep several "go to" intro and conclusion idea starters handy and just plug them into your article at the writing stage.

Then do what ebizman87 does, or adopt your own strategy.

The key for me lies in the number "3". Three key content ideas and you're done. Could be tips, secrets, problems, ideas, shortcuts, time-savers, traps, mistakes, methods and more.

All you need is 3 supporting points or words relating to the title of each article. Then write a single paragraph about each. Plug in an introduction, conclusion and resource box. Then move onto the next article.

Dragon Naturally Speaking, as Tracie mentioned is also a big help. It takes a bit of time to "train" it to your voice and to get used to using this software. After all, it's a different way to write. But once you get comfortable with it and you have a system in place, it can save you a ton of time.

Remember that after going to the effort of writing an article, with very little work you can turn that one article into lots more effective traffic sources. For example editing the article into a press release, creating a video with the content or doing a podcast using the content.

The important thing is that if you are going to go to the effort to create some quality content make sure you get maximum use out of it.

Thanks for the tips. I follow a similar Title process such as yours. For the body of my articles, I do the following.

- I jot down three main points I want to cover in the article. These will form the start of each of the paragraphs
- Under each main point, I write two or three sentences to elaborate further. It could contain examples, case study or just explanation of the main point

Then I write between 1 or 2 sentences on what I will be talking about. I look at the work I've done above to get the inspiration. This is my introduction.

Finally, I write 2 or 3 sentences summarising what I've talked about - my conclusion. Again, I use the 'body sentences' above.

Excellent advice Ebizman. I couldn't have stated it any better. When I started, I underestimated the power of article marketing until I started doing it and "pow!", that was the turning point when I started to get some real traffic.

I just got word...those 8 articles I cranked out got me platinum status. Thanks to this method I can now make all the submissions I want...

I'm so grateful I found this great guidelines to make my own unique articles. By the way is it okay to submit your article to several article directories? Would it create duplicate content?

Regarding article rewriters, I found a really good piece of software on the net that sells for under $13. This software enables you to load in any old articles and in seconds it rewrites the article so that it appears unique. Just do a google search for #1 SEO Article Rewriter.

this tips are really great. i think article writing is one of those tasks if i can say that, that really cause a lot of difficult for folks.

i think if you have a good system down like you've offered it really helps streamline the process. article writing can just be downright intimidating.

but just get organized, get going and if you're any way decent you should be able to whip out a good 500 word article in around a half hour.
