How much is this realistically worth?

I wrote a few months ago what could maybe
be considered articles on my personal
adventures while trout fishing.

It's more of one long drawn out paragraph
that could be broken down into maybe 100
or so articles. It's mostly very short tips
that are explained by situations that occured
while I was fishing. Some of it is little
stories of things that happened too.

I would like to know what are peoples opinions
on what it might be worth based off your own
experiences selling information like that in
different forms like as articles or maybe an ebook.

Thanks

If it is about 100 pages, you could probably sell it for between 7 and 17 dollars.

Alternatively, you could use the articles to drive traffic to a review site with links to affiliate programs.

I haven't had much experience in the fishing niche, but I would imagine there is a lot of money to be made there - especially with related products like fishing gear, where to fish etc.

I don't really have alot of time to try and sell it.

So putting it on a site with affiliate links and
trying to get traffic isn't something I think I can
      do.

Besides selling it for a few dollars how much total
do you think it could be sold for. Just a few dollars?
      Or maybe a few hundred?

Do you mean selling the rights to use the text to just one person?

I'm not sure what I mean.

All I can think of is selling it as an ebook or
          selling them as articles.

There might be other ways to sell it I just
          can't think of any though.

I posted to Tony Blakes old forum
              and on Mike HowTo Forum.

I'm not sure who Michael Cambell
is. Is he the author of an ebook
called Mini Net or something similar.

                Hi

Yeah it was the How To Forum, (I thought it was you)
I was Kymi, but you probably don't remember me lol

You stuck in my mind because you were determined to overcome a fair bit of adversity. (I like that)

If you wish, I'll check your book over for you (for old times sake), I know nothing about fishing, but I can give you some constructive criticism and what it would be suitable for

                Cheers

ok let me see if I can answer some of the
                  questions that were asked.

                  - Sparrow / I don't think any of the things
I wrote would make people think they could
catch fish regardless of the conditions. That
didn't really sound the way I meant it to sound.

I wrote basically what I think would be the best
                  way to successfully catch fish.

I never read magazines or books on fishing it
was something I just did and did alot. It's
kind of the opposite of how I looked at
marketing. I read tons and have done very little.

It's not really something that would catch
attention like the Banjo Minnow and it's not
really a work of art either. It's more like
something that would be found in a Q and A section
                  of a magazine.

                  - warrior1011 / I don't really have time to post
the information to a blog and have it a drawn out
process. I was wanting to sell the information
as something that could be used by others to do
that. I think it's called private label rights.

I was hoping to use it to make a chunk of money to
use to relocate somewhere and do that as soon as
                  I possibly could.

                  - Kat Bartone / This isn't something I really did
any research on to determine if it's part of a
market that I could sell to. It was more done out
of me thinking it was one of the few topics I had
personal knowledge from that I could write about.
Even that took me a bunch of years to finally get
                  around to doing.

So I don't really know if theres is many ebooks or
forums out there on the topic. I remember a few
from a bunch of years ago when I was looking at it.
I haven't really looked at it though in a long
                  time.

                  - Kim Standerline / I do remember you. I think it was
you who sent me an email about a post I made once
and said you really liked the way I described the view
from under the tree in my yard. I had that email saved
on my old computer until it stopped working.

I really haven't overcome any adversity though. I just
had a whole bunch of weird problems that haven't really
gone away at all. If I do decide to sell the information
I will let you look over it and then I could send
you a fee from whatever is made from it.

Matthew I am coming at this as a writer as I know nothing about fishing, just eating the results

If you say it is short tips, then consider breaking each tip into one file. Make it a text file and then you will know how many tips you have. You could then package it up to sell as a whole to people who could send a tip a day to their list.

The real value of writing about your fishing experiences is in the tax write off of expenses relative to your "fishing research" to write the article.

There are many people who submit articles regarding their fishing or hunting experiences to Out Doors Magazines and might occassionally get published.

However, in any event, the IRS allows for the full deduction of the relative expenses incurred.

So, keep your receipts for your next fishing or hunting trip to Canada, and make sure you actually submit your articles.

                        Best Success!

                        Warmly,
                        Jeff and Sandi

Alright. I spent the past few hours going through
it and trying to split them up into different
                          text files.

I was way off with the 100 number. It's more like
71 total. With about 58 of them being situations
that I encountered and how I reacted to them. About
13 are more like short stories.

They are about maybe 700 to 1,000 words a piece,
although could probably be edited down to remove
some useless parts or added to so that they are
                          better.

                          - Bev Clement / When you say short tips do you mean
like an article or a tip like "Remember to brush
                          your teeth after every meal"?

                          - ChocolateBiz / I never went on a fishing trip that
was planned like a guided fishing trip or anything
like that. It was more of me just going to my cousins
house and walking to the 3 different creeks that were
                          nearby.

All of my fishing was basically done from about age 11
to about 17. I haven't really fished much since then
so that's been about a decade since then. All totaling
my fishing equipment expenses I probably spent less
then $200 total. That's because $200 was about all the
money I made total during that few year span.

So I'm not sure how I'd even use that as some tax
                          writeoff.

Mattew I am a avid trout fisherman and know that market very well.

Trout fisherman are gimmick seekers always looking for the next best thing.

"Where have I heard that statement before" I guess IMer's are no different.

Unless you have something that is going to get the trout jumping into your pockets quickly and no offense it will fail.

If your a real fisherman, you have read a fishing mag here and there, you know what is needed, what catches your attention.

So unless you got the next biggest gimmick in the fishing world its worth NaDa.

Now if you got something of a literary works like a River Runs Throught It, made famous by a Movie, you might have a market for your adventures.

I see this as a tough market to crack unless you are exactly in the right spot to get attention.

I know this from personal experience because I know many of the people who make a living writing for this market for the mags you see on the racks including I manufacture equipment for this market as well.

              Good Luck

                Matthew,

Are there any similar products on the market? In ClickBank? Any related forums that you can check out and see what the market might be?

You might do well to do some research in forums closer to your market. If you don't have time to spiff it up and market it, and if it seems like a viable idea after having done some research, come back here and work out a JV with someone who can help with the graphics and marketing.
