I just fished this off the news guys...

"E-commerce giant eBay has told all its users to change their passwords in the wake of a cyber attack on the popular online marketplace."

    And since eBay and PayPal are linked, depending on your account settings, your PayPal could be at risk too...

      That's a good point, never take any chances with PP passwords, it would be wise to change that as well...just in case.

    What use are the ebay account's on their own if they are active? I can see why someone would want a dormant account to sell replicas or something on so aren't the majority of users safe?

    they throw the pw's into a dictionary attack script and can open lots of financial accounts with such info

    people often have the same pw over many accounts

    major problem that hack

    plus the crew that did it may be just doing it for the glory

    it's a huge hack whoever did it

    I changed my eBay password a couple of hours ago...

    Going to change my PP pw as well....
