1000 Posts Special. Tips For New Internet Marketers
Wow guys, I have hit 100 posts on this forum, and for some reason, I'm pretty excited. I'll be even more excited if I ever hit 1337 posts though! So to mark this momentous occasion, I thought I would offer some of the most important things I'v learned along the way of my Internet Marketing Journey so far.
So to start things off, I want to say that I'v never quit my day job to do Internet Marketing, as I started making money online so young, I'v never had to work. Of course, when I'v wanted extra money to start something new (like CPA marketing) I'v got a job as an agency or something like that, but have never really had to work for over a month in a year before.
I started in my teens, making commentary videos and tutorials for Runescape, a popular online game, and built up a large (ish) following on Youtube.
That allowed me to make money through a gaming network called (maker studios) who I think are owned by socialblade). They where a crappy network, an could have been getting paid a lot higher if I'd looked around or maybe waited until I met the Machinima requirements.
Anyway, that was the first lesson learned. Do research and then do some more. Going with a sub par network cost me a lot of money, and I ended up destroying that channel in the end with copyright music (another lesson) and was left thinking what I could do.
This was all before I had even heard the term "Internet Marketing" and I didnt have a WF account then. Anyway, after the channel got deleted, I started making niche websites and getting Amazon, Adsense, and Clickbank sales, which was pretty awesome. It was a slowish start, because of minimum ammounts etc, but I loved seeing this free money coming into my bank account.
Since then, I'v become a lot more efficient, and am making a decent ammount online. I thought I would give my biggest tips to people looking to start an online business.
Tip One : Don't Be Afraid Of Hard Work
When I mean hard work, I actually mean Freelancing. You will need money to start making money online, and it doesnt seem like much with places like fiverr, but the costs of outsourcing can be pretty high. I used things like Fiverr, oDesk, Digitalpoint etc to build up a paypal balance which came in very useful, without ever having to spend to much of my personal money. It also lets you get to grips with how things are done online, and how this whole thing operates.
Tip Two : Don't Stick With Things If They Don't Work
If you have been truly trying a method or a course, but you can't seem to make any money with it, try something else! No point beating a dead horse (is that the correct saying?). Trying the same thing over and over again and failing is just stupid. Change your game plan, but remember to stay focused.
Tip Three : Don't underestimate the power of social media
It took me a while to get my head around social media. I was spending so much time on the sites like twitter and facebook for little to none traffic, but it really does go up exponentially if you work hard at it. Taking the time to build up a social media following is realy like having PUSH BUTTON traffic sources, and that is really nice to have. Also, once you get passed that barrier of 10-300 fans, then your following grows really fast after that, like a snowball effect.
Well, thats my long post over, I hope you enjoyed it and got some use out of it!
