What free web service can you offer for new clients?

Hey guys,

I am just starting my web design agency. I have checked out my competition and they offer many different free services to entice customers. I was wondering what free service (or add on service) that works best for you to entice a new customer. I am finding that many prospects have very little understanding about web design and online marketing. Therefore offering a free service for that they see no value (because of a lack of understanding) creates 'perceived' little value pour them. I am currently offering 2 months free web maintenance. But I don't like using the word free-"the word just feels as if it cheapens my services" For services I offer the basic services that an agency would offer- design, seo, ppc. Thanks in advance.

How about offering education? For example, sometimes it's hard to sell a client if they are not familiar with the service or its value. So, If you can offer free education, basically, you are not only providing cost-effective information, but at the same time, you have educated your client into understanding why your services cost what they do.

Basically, you have justified your cost and probably built trust within your customer. Which would make them more apt to buy from you.

I agree with cobra - instead of offering a free service, you can offer some kind of training.

The training doesn't necessarily have to be free either. You may get better results offering a paid training. Business owners think differently than consumers- they aren't used to getting tons of stuff- especially quality training- for free.

        Cosmo,

How are you going to differentiate your service from all the other similar businesses operating in this crowded space?

Whatever you are going to focus on as your core fundamental advantage, your unique selling proposition . . . that is what I would offer "more" of as a bonus.

It will aid in the branding of your company because you will be highlighting your core strength.

        Good luck to you,

        Steve

Thanks guys for the advice. I never thought about the idea of no additional cost training to use as an incentive. But it clearly makes perfect sense. Now that I think about it training is more valuable than an additional add-on service.

          Steve B-
Thanks for the advice. You know your talking with the right crowd when usp's are being discussed. I spent a month before building anything working out what my usp would be. Now I just need to keep testing it and retesting it...its funny, when I studied my large competitors the majority had no usp. I can only imagine how much money these large companies have left and spent without having a clear direction. Thanks again guys.

What is difference between your service and in other's service. What kind of training you are offering and what will be price for this training service?

Give them social media promotion free and the best part is giving the best service for a good rate. If you are giving the quality service clients will come to you.

Most businesses are concerned about how customers would find them. Offer to list their business on Google maps and local listings so that people can locate their business on their mobile devices too. Offer to make QR codes for their print ads / flyers. Offer to shoot a small interview / promo film about their business and post it on YouTube. Just come up with new and innovative ways to get new customers for them in ways they have never thought of before. The bottom line is - they need more customers. And if you can help them get that, you've got them.

How about creating a complimentary FB page for the business that gets a site designed by you. Offering some kind of education is also a good idea.
