There are many, many plugins, tutorials, and paid services out there that will do or teach you to do exactly what you want. Just Google "wordpress landing pages" and you will find lots of alternatives.

we don't normally put landing pages on a blog, blogs push landing pages in our network

there's some sites that do LP's for free, there's companies that charge a lot to, it's an art IMO

a LP is how you hit homeruns

blogs, well it's really a CMS not a LP enviornment, great for content on the fly, but landing pages you want to control more

sure some use blogs for LP's, and some use the handle of a screwdriver to hammer in nails

    so to each their own

but an LP should be on it's own in my opinion

either on a sub or a directory index page that is an EM to the product/service

Well, as said by MoneyWealth, blogs are not designed to show off LP's. Probably you are using a theme that is blog friendly. So best approach in current situation, without disturbing/changing your current layout is to use a plugin for LP.

There are many plugins that can server the cause. It depends if you plan to create lot of LP's or just this one, if you have high budget ($97 at least), then I would recommend getting Optimizepress. You can use it as a theme and as a plugin. Its very powerful and rich in options, design and layout. Many free landing pages plugins are also available for Wordpress. Just google it and see what suits you the best w.r.t your needs.

    Best of Luck!

I believe Optimize Press could be something that can work for you. Or simply just use a HTML editor (like Wix) and create a site from there.

I would suggest you to go normally how you design a web page (searching keywords, making content based on those keywords, image optimization, links). Practically the basic difference is only the CMS. Apart from that no more difference is there.

"Confusion now hath wrought its masterpiece."

There are several instances, in the posts above, of people talking at cross-purposes.

That's arisen (as it often does in the forum) because some people are confusing "landing pages" with "sales pages", while others are confusing "landing pages" with "squeeze pages" (I think). Still others apparently have the temerity to be using the words "landing pages" and actually meaning "landing pages", too! :p

If it helps anyone, this post explains unambiguously what a "landing page", and those other things, are.

The way I do it is that I skim through my extensive library of PLR products and use one of the sales pages as my template. Since I have good knowledge of html, all I need is notepad and I'm good to go.

    Depends on your needs.

I like Clickbump's Squeezepage skin as one easy alternative. It is the theme I recommend to most of my team. (Not always that skin of course.)

GetResponse has a landing page creation module, if you happen to use them as your autoresponder.

Leadpages is a top notch choice. You'll see tons of top marketers using their service.

    MLSP offers something similar.

If you plan to write you own, then explore the Clickbump theme option. You'd probably like it...a lot.
