You can try to put your products on places like JVZoo or Clickbank. The affiliate payments and such are already all handled without much fuss.

Otherwise, if you want to host on your own / set your very own affiliate program, you can try to check out JRox.

      Not really.

Ideally the process works like so:

Someone points a new customer your way with a marker saying "Hey, I came from this guy here"

Your site / system would then act like normal and if that user pays / buys a product, your site would check if the user was sent to you by someone else.

if so, you then pay ( or mark ) the person who told your customer about you and then pay him /her XXX amount as per the contract.

We run a system ourselves ( livechataffiliate.com ) and this is how it works.

User gets marked > user buys something > affiliate gets paid when you get paid.

      Now..
This can only really be achieved though the use of other platforms like mentioned by other users or by a set of scripts / systems you run yourself.
You could get one made for you, but that will still cost a lot and you will still be going down the scripted / system route.

I cant see how it can be done any other way?

That's what you want; not what you need.

What you need is to have a calm, slow, well-informed think-through the situation from the perspective of the serious, pro-affiliates, since they're the people you need to know how to attract, aren't they?

Do you know what such affiliates look for, before being willing to test an offer with their traffic? Do you have any understanding of what their priorities are?

I'll give you a little tip: one of the most important priorities, to the people doing this for a living (exactly the ones you want to attract?) is to avoid affiliate systems which result in their being dependent on the vendor for payment. Unless it's a very well-known vendor with a long, stellar history of payment reliability. That's one the very first things that your prospective affiliates will be looking at. And if they don't like what they see, they don't look further. Remember: they have thousands of vendors/merchants from whom to choose what to promote. You need them far more than they need you.

That's why you need to start off by using an established network like Commission Junction, ShareASale, or whatever, rather than hurriedly setting up your own in-house affiliate network which won't be able to offer prospective affiliates the security they seek. That will possibly get you the 95% of potential affiliates who between them make only 5% of the potential affiliate sales. It won't get you the ones you most need: the 5% of affiliates whose work collectively brings in 95% of the affiliate sales.

Be aware that "trying to get as many affiliates as possible" and "trying to get as many affiliate sales as possible" are two very, very different things.
