Do you have multiple Clickbank accounts. Why?

I have only ever had one clickbank account, but I keep hearing of IMers having more than one. I once saw a Jim Edwards video where he claimed to have many CB accounts. Why? Am I missing something?

This is the real reason why many people have many CB accounts. They use different account for different niche to track sales and profits.

I have separate accounts because at a glance I can see my sales for each niche, but also, the reason to have an account for each product is so that you can benefit from getting affiliates. Even though you can sell up to 50 items with one account, only one product can go in the marketplace for you to get affiliates. For the high fees that Clickbank charge, I wouldn't use them, but it's worth it because of the affiliate system, and Clickbank takes care of that and mails out the affiliate checks.

The reason is not far fetch, you will tends to open multiple clickbank account once you have winning formular either as affiliate or vendor. You will have the chance to replicate the process by opening many more accounts on clickbank.

I've definitely seen the benefit of switching out accounts for different niches. Clickbank has very rudimentary tracking and it can get really difficult trying to sort everything out, and every step you can take to compartmentalize that is better.

Also, and this is definitely on the 'speculation' side so take it with a grain of salt, I've had hoplinks which stopped converting that started converting again when I switched them to another account. I have no idea what's going on there but I did have it happen a couple times.

It's mostly important for those who are selling products as opposed to those who are just selling as affiliates. If you are an affiliate, you only need one account. If your link isn't converting, then perhaps try a new account as Harry explained.

When you list your products on CB, you can only enter one main URL. So what happens if you want to sell more than one product? They all have to link through to that URL, which makes it difficult for your affiliates to market each product. The only way around this is to list all your products on one landing page. If they are unrelated, however, this might turn people off, as they expect to see a sales page when they click, not a page where they have to click another link to see the sales page.

By having multiple CB accounts, you give each account one product. Then, affiliates market whichever product they prefer. In my case, I sell a dog product and a teen depression product - totally unrelated. With one CB account, it's not viable to try getting affiliates for the second product because they will end up on the dog page.

      Hope this explains it.

And you opened up new account with your same details?
Or you used details of your father or your sister?

Because it is true that my old CB account affiliate simply does not receive sales anymore... it is like the hops are not really working, even if at my tests they look all right...

CB is just so not to be trusted!

Some affiliates believe they get flagged if a bad credit card is used on a sale they referred, so like to juggle accounts to prevent this happening. no proof behind it though.

I must concur. I have multiple CB accounts as well, for all the reasons previously mentioned. Several of my accounts sell products and several are just to promote products. It's just easier to keep everything straight all the way around.

One reason in the past to use multiple affiliate accounts
      was for tracking purposes.

You can now track from one account with the tracking code
(tid) which you append to the hoplink.

Another main reason to have multiple Clickbank accounts is this:

In one account you can only set a fixed percentage amount as affiliate commission.

Example: If you set it for 50% then all the products you sell via that particular account, you can give only 50% commission.

If you want to create another product to sell where you need to give 60 or 70% commission to affiliates, then you will need another clickbank account.

    Can someone answer this?

I want to possibly use Clickbank for a new product, but I want to use my pen name on it.

Will the pen name show up on the persons Clickbank reciept, and also, how will my payments from Clickbank work if it is under a pen name and not my real name?

If someone could clarify this, I would appreciate it. I'm debating about going with Clickbank or simply my 1SC account. The good thing about Clickbank is the access to affiliates.

Yes, your pen name will show up on the receipt, and that is also the name to which the check will be made to. BUT, you can always choose direct deposit for payment so all you need to provide is a bank account number ... an alternative is to register your pen name as a business name and and go to your bank to show them your registration papers to let know you will be depositing checks made to this name.

So how do people with multiple accounts do this? They have the same name/bank account info for each account or do they have multiple bank accounts?

Could I just register one business name, instead of a personal name, and open up a bank account for that and use that business name on all the accounts?

Dude I have 3 seperate products, CB accounts and they ALL pay directly into my ONE bank account.

@alexa - CB are nice people - you just gotta ask them for DD (not always based on the cheque count, as Ive experienced myself)

Exactly the same way as you set up your current one, Dano. There's absolutely no difference in the procedure at all. Just log out, go back to their site, pretend you're visiting it for the first time and open a new account. There's no charge. But see this post, too.

                        Hi Robert,

Generally, you have to read people's terms of service to see the answers to all such questions. Different companies have different terms of service, policies and procedures.

I can tell you that with PayPal, an individual is allowed up to two accounts (one personal and one business). And that you can get additional, separate, business accounts there for limited liability companies, too. (And that at Clickbank, you can have as many as you like).

                      I just did that.

There is nothing "illegal" about it, so why should CB not allow it?
It's perfect for JVs, so two or more people can share and have access to a Clickbank account, rather than making some JV project on an existing account which would make everything pretty confusing.

                        (b) because ClickBank only allows one landing page to your affiliates (HopLink target URL) per vendor account.

                        (c) to get more than one marketplace list per vendor account (although this has a disadvantage than many vendors don't recognize, which I'll come to later)
                        we could add
                        (d) only one rate of commission in an account.

However vendors can now offer different rates via Commission Tiers

And another advantage of having one account is that if
there is any connection (linking) between the products
in an account you can tell your affiliates that they
will receive commission on all of these i.e on products
                        that they don't actively promote.

The possible reasons for this include declined credit-cards, stolen credit-cards, payment information incorrectly entered by the intending customer, intending customers banned by ClickBank for excessive refunds and ClickBank tracking problems.

In the past, people had lots of accounts for three reasons

    (a) tracking (before tid's),

    (b) because ClickBank only allows one landing page to your affiliates (HopLink target URL) per vendor account.

    (c) to get more than one marketplace list per vendor account (although this has a disadvantage than many vendors don't recognize, which I'll come to later)

But there are also downsides to having lots of accounts

    - admin/management hassle

    - if you have any slow-selling accounts, it may result in less frequent payouts, because these accounts take longer to reach the payment threshold or customer distribution threshold (if you have a lot of accounts, some accounts may never payout!)

    - Fees associated with each account (activation fee per vendor account, check issuing fee if applicable, dormant account fees if applicable)

    - It's hard to get a good gravity (discussed in more detail below in point 3).

So nowadays, I would say now, for most people - it is better to try to have less accounts:

    1. You can use tid's for tracking - that solves issue (a)

    2. If you are a vendor, you can easily work-round the single landing page (issue b) using scripts. I myself offer one that you can use (and setup in minutes) at PHP Script for ClickBank vendors allowing you to offer your affiliates a choice of landing pages - easier alternative to EasyClickMate - and there are others available elsewhere too.

    3. Multiple marketplace listings (issue c) is actually a two-edged sword, and has a disadvantage than many vendors don't recognize.

If you have a single marketplace listing, all your affiliate sales go through it, and it's easier to increase your gravity. A high gravity (rightly or wrongly) tends to attract even more affiliates, hopefully eventually you reach a critical mass of affiliates...

On the other hand, if you spread your affiliate sales over multiple accounts, then each individual account tends to have a low gravity, which makes it hard to attract affiliates. And none of your affiliate programs ever really take off.

Just bear in mind that a lot of this thread is from 2009/10, and quite a bit has changed since then.

For example, the "two checks" rule is no longer in force: you can select direct deposit payments immediately, if you wish (if you live in a country to which direct deposits are made, of course - which you do, yourself). Good luck!

I see I commented above that I had only 1 ClickBank account, myself. How times change.

I'd be grateful if you could point us to the info page on Clickbank to confirm this? This is really helpful....Being based in the UK the bank charges for paying in US$ cheques is pretty expensive.

I've been recently looking at alternative bank accounts to compare the best way of taking payments in US$. Is there any others from the UK who know a good solution for the $ to £ transation?

Worst comes to the worst, we will add an international account to our business bank account but the charges are still pretty steep IMO

Yes, I have a couple of "main" accounts (for everyday white hat stuff) and then some secondary accounts where I experiment with some "naughty" practices, like CSing (and I don't mean counterstrike)

Shame that it's usually easier to make money with the "naughty" method as well.

Many marketers use multiple CB accounts for the purpose of
ad-tracking and split-testing different campaigns for the same
    product.

A slightly different slant - I have 2 clickbank accounts but I never use either these days. As I spend most of my time in South Africa and Clickbank don't pay via Paypal it's not really viable for me. Trying to cash a US cheque in SA is an expensive nightmare I'm afraid.
I use JVZoo instead of course :-)

They'll pay straight into your bank account by wire transfer, though, if you choose that option (though they do charge something for that). "Just saying" ... http://www.clickbank.com/accounting.html#A5
