Drop Down Menus - Cripple Your Profits

INTERNET MARKETING

For people who use drop down menus on their site via the nav bar. I am wondering if you have any issues with these when traffic comes to your site from an ipad/smartphone?

My next site I'm making was going to use pages where the nav menu buttons are dropdowns. And because the site uses pages each nav menu button will be unclickable (hyperlink set as "#"); so I am relying 100% on the drop down for site naviagation.

Just wondering if the hover is a big issue on phones still?

I'm not certain of phones but they cause issues w/ screen readers that people with vision problems use. You need to make sure to test in different browsers too.

Everything you have these days should be tested on both desktop and mobile. Majority if your traffic will be coming from mobile these days and so if something is not working, have it fixed right away. It doesn't cost too much to have a mobile optimized version of your site made.

This is so. Also, um FLASH can work on your desk top, but will not work on many mobile phones such as the I phone and many more. Best to use regular plain HTML to create your web pages. I finally am getting through to companies. Make your sites less FLASHy and TRASHy if you want to make money.

  I have never had an issue with drop downs on the sites I use from people navigating on mobile devices or tablets. But, that is because I do one of two things. My informational sites are all responsive which means at the small screen level, you get a mobile drop down menu. On many of my commerce sites I do, they have a separate mobile CSS or again, responsive design.
  
  If you are doing this from scratch, consider starting with bootstrap or foundation framework which has the coding in place to be responsive out of the box. If you are using a CMS, there are plenty of free and paid themes that are responsive.

My website uses a "responsive" WP theme. I have drop downs but on a mobile device, that is substituted with a mobile friendly menu.
