AdSense vs ClickBank vs CPA to monetize relationship advice blog?

My site is marketed towards women, we currently get about 30,000 visitors per month.

Our main monetization as of now is AdSense, but we only make $200 per month with that. We have a few links to clickbank products in 4 or 5 articles and tend to sell a product every few months.

$200 per month just isn't going to do. Should I keep optimizing AdSense and trying to drive more traffic? Should I move on to ClickBank or CPA? What would you do?

Try and look at some keywords in the niche that have a higher CPC and start writing some articles / blog posts about those keywords. It should raise your CPM higher on Adsense.

I'd also suggest having something like a deal of the week, or featured item of the week / month where you choose a clickbank product and write an awesome product review and feature it all over your website - try and get as many sales out of it as possible.

Build your list and mail your list stuff to build their interest. Don't be pitching some product all the time. Give free tips and advice most of the time and toss out an occasional pitch on a different product, CPA, CJ/ShareASale/Clickbank.

What not to do:I got on a list recently and quickly decided not to buy, and started to save the emails in a swipe file. Now I'm so tired of the same old s*** from them daily, sometimes 2 or 3 in a day, I've dumped everything they sent.

If I remember right, relationship advice for women is a great market and Adsense is definitely not the way to go. I'd recommend using email marketing to promote click bank and CPA offers as well as other affiliate products.

30,000 visitors per month and you're only making $200 per month?

Something is not right. I recommend you put more focus on Clickbank and CPA marketing because AdSense alone is obviously not cutting it. I also recommend creating your own product. It doesn't have to be large or expensive you can start out with a small ebook and sell it for around $7-$17 and see how that goes.

Lol that's exactly what I said. $200 per month just doesn't add up.

What I've started doing yesterday is putting ClickBank calls to action in my "high traffic, high stress" articles.

Here's an example of a call to action in an article written for someone that wants their ex boyfriend back: "CLICK HERE to watch a video that will detail how you can win your ex back by using a SECRET technique."

Is something like this good enough or would you guys suggest I strip the site of AdSense ads and replace them with affiliate banners?

Definitely go with CPA, it offers more value, or bang for the effort put in to promote a niche site, especially for an evergreen topic like dating.

Neither. Studies have shown that email marketing is the most effective selling method, so start building a list and treat them well. They'll buy from you if you help them. Once they leave your website they're gone, get their email address and it lets keep them as a potential customer

I'm in total agreement with what you said here. But I think I will keep the AdSense banners on my site, and keep working to optimize them, at least until I have a strong list and steady income from it. It's definitely time for me to put a focused effort to list building and email marketing.
