How do you research an affiliate?

Is there any way to research an affiliate by their CB affiliate ID?

I've just had a special request from a potential affiliate, but before I proceed, it would be great to have some idea how serious this person is, what his history might be and what he might be planning (ie: a sample of what he's offering me). My instincts tell me there's something a little odd about his message so I'd just like to know a bit more.

I tried running his CB ID in Google, but nothing came up.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Personally I just come straight out and ask direct questions when I'm unsure. If the person is legit they're always happy to discuss stuff. If you don't hear from them or they get funny about answering then they are up to something.

      Thanks Andy,

I will talk to him directly but I'd like to do my own research first because what he's suggesting could give away my product content. He doesn't seem to have a web page and plans to do direct promotions using video instead.

But I wonder if there's any way to track his previous efforts for other products and what else he's selling and how. As I said, I ran a search for his CB ID but nothing came up.

Usually, you can enter the ID and see what an affiliate is promoting and where, which gives you an idea how serious the affiliate is or, in this case, whether he might be out just to get free content. (I'm trying not to use any of the big "S" words [steal, scam] here because he might well be a good affiliate)

If I can't find out on my own, I will ask him directly. I just like to be armed.
