Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Don't understand what you mean by posting other people's ads!

It's always good to "test before you invest". Meaning you test with free methods and scale up what works with paid traffic. However, I'm not sure how much traffic you can get from Craig's list (never use it).

Whatever you decide, make sure you're tracking all your clicks separately with each ad to see what performs best.

A worthier strategy would be to create better ads than the ones you are competing against.

      I agree with Myles.

We always advise our posting clients to use their Unique Selling Proposition or "Why Choose Us" as the guide for your ad content. Keep the content succinct and provide just enough information to motivate them to contact you. Strong calls to action.

Now, if you get great ad ideas from scanning your competitors' posting, then that is fine. However, just wholesale copying of their ads doesn't. If their ads don't perform well, neither will yours.

Yup, I agree with Myles. Look at the ads of the regular posters in your city and category. They must be getting some results, or would not have continued to post.

Look at their ad copy, and the information they've given (benefits and such) to entice people to buy from them/contact them.

Make your offer better than theirs (either in terms of price, or value or both), and make a better ad copy.

Since you are basing your ad on something that's already working, and you're making it better (in terms of offer and copy), instead of just copying their ads (which might not get you a lot of interest), you'll have the best offer on that particular category. Guess who'll get the most calls/replies now?

I agree with Myles, and everyone else that agreed with Myles.

I have also used this same type of strategy if I didn't have much time, or if I was having a non-creative type of day. Why re-invent the wheel if you can take what is working and make it better.

Always give a better offer, and change up the copy-so you are not actually stealing, and also so you dont have the same exact ad as the other guy.

  • I agree with Myles.

Its always great to view what your competitor is posting. And how many of them are going live. Then create better ads with what you are selling. Write good content in a presentable manner. Try avoiding special characters.

Since they are already tested, you dont need to worry much
