Hi warriors, I just got skinned by a fiverr scammer and I thought others shouldnt get burnt. I bought a gig from a seller who had over 70 positive reviews and 2 negative ones.

After purchasing I realised the 2 negative comments were accurate. Why? because this seller was offering a bonus gig for buyers who left positive reviews!!

Important lesson learnt, always read the positive AND the negative reviews before buying a gig!!

In the whole world there are two kinds of people. at the same way in the Fiverr, both kinds of people are available. so you need to do work with others by carefully. it does not mean all fiverr worker is bad.

Is "skinned" a Brit slang word? Sounds painful for a five dollar loss. Just curious

If I warn more folks from buying the particular gig, this scammer stands to lose hundreds..look at the flip side

You may want to go for a site that has a more tight knit community of buyers and sellers. At MyCheapJobs, a lot of my buyers communicate with me by Skype/email and let me know about scam sellers. I then fix the problem within minutes.

I am always cautious about using fiverr. I tend these days to do a Google search or search forums for recommended fiverr providers who are offering whatever service it is I am looking for. You don't always find suitable recommendations but it can help and save a lot of heartache, even if we are only talking $5.

I try to leave negative feed back, but FIVER just returns my money. Vendor is gone late on. Like what am I doing wrong. They did not delivery the service. Maybe we can create a list of good FIVERR vendors and users. Make that a new WSO and charge a FIVERR for it!

I know Joseph is not the only person who faced an experience like this on fiverr, there are many more. And he would also agree that their support is not that helpful either.

'Surprisingly' fiverr is one of the Top 100 websites in USA, very close to Top 50 I should say! How can you describe this?

I have bought several gigs on fiverr and I always have low expectations. After all I'm only spending 5 bucks. There have been a couple of times when I have been pleasantly surprised.

When I'm satisfied I do leave a good review. So, if the element that I need is not pressing, I always give fiverr one good shot to come through first. Then if it does not happen, I go to my other proven but more expensive resources.

My lesson learned is that you can get more than what you pay for. The only problem is that it does not happen very often.

    Best regards,
    Steve Yakim

Yes, I have also seen many buyers who provide bad services to make quick money. They don't have intension to provide a quality service. Therefor check both positive and negative review and than decide whether to invest $5 or not.
I am also a seller at fiverr. But concentrate on providing a quality service rather than making money easily.

All sellers from sites like Fiverr, Elance, Odesk, etc. can be dangerous. These sites work like banks; they don't defend the customer.

    You cannot trust reviews anyway…

I had bad experiences with all these sites.

Hey Joseph, Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, I agree with you when ordering on Fiverr or Other services. You will never find out how good the seller is until you tried it. There will always be good and bad sellers from Fivverr, Freelancing Site and Even Solo Ad Industry.

There will always be a risk involved and you have to shell out some amount of money to find the right seller. (Or maybe not sometimes you get lucky and find a quality vendor on your first try)

And even good sellers turn out to be bad from time to time.

What I normally do is ask for referrals or order multiple gigs from different gigs then choose which one I prefer. Then that's the only time I will order in bulk or whenever I need that service again, I just go back to the gig and order some more.

We actually sell Gigs through Fiver and buy gigs. For the most part, we have gotten quality services. Like any service check their ratings and you can always send them questions to see if they are legit. Remember if it sounds to good to be true it is.

If the gigs turns out bad, you can report it to Fiver, get your money back, and give them a negative rating.

Here is something that burns me up. Basically, you buy some gigs. OK, there is no communication from the seller as in zero comm. Then, days later they want to mutually cancel the gig. It does not affect their rating any. FIVERR should get rid of incompetent sellers you cannot deliver a service. Typically, they should train the new person. Do not wait days before you answer. Basically, if you are too busy, you need to pause your gig. Not sure what is going on.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9231927].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author ecoverbee20
Just cancel the gig and ask fiverr for a refund.

I wonder how many more people are using that trick.

It seems that the more good reviews you get the more sales you get so its keeping them richer and the newbies poor

    Thanks
