It's Been About Six Weeks Since Freelancer Took Over. How Are They Doing?

I was really curious to see how things would go. I mostly use this main forum so I don't have anything to say about the other parts of the forum.

I still don't see much difference except maybe the "style" of moderation.

Also, no more 500 errors every Saturday night.

How do you think the forum has changed? Does it still provide the same value? Less? More?

I look forward to your comments.

Thanks for reading.

A lot more spam and nonsense posts, or perhaps they're slower to moderate them.

I don't "live" in the WSO forum, so I can't comment on that change. It seems some members spent most of their time there. I checked one person's "see see posts" and nearly all their posts were there.

Apart from quite a few members with 1- 5 posts then it still feels the same.

Sometimes I feel that the main forum is quieter than usual, but that may just be me.

Some good and some bad points...we still get loads of spammers. They should instigate the low membership fee to deter the spammers again. It also adds a little to their kitty. I also think that the time delay between reporting spammer should be greatly reduced or deleted...I end up not reporting if I see more than 1 as I don't want to wait for that time to elapse.

I also see lots of questions being asked and not answered. Often the loading times are slower than ever.

Not sure what else but if I remember, I will add them to this post.

    Hi Brent,

I'm interested that you ask, in your poll, about the "quality", not the "quantity".

I haven't seen any noticeable changes in the quality of what's posted here, over the last 6 weeks, and wouldn't really expect to in only 6 weeks. (The striking changes in quality, I think, were around 6-12 months ago, when so many of the well-established, successful Warriors gradually stopped posting.)

What I have noticed, especially over the last few days, is a very big and obvious change in quantity.

The number of new posts and threads, per day, in the Main Marketing Forum, is strikingly lower than it was a few months ago. (And extrapolating from this I suspect, but don't know, that overall traffic may be significantly down, too. And that - if true - surprises me a lot, in the circumstances, and I've increasingly been wondering about it!).
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9228854].message }}
  • I haven't noticed anything significant. The 'sticky' posts in the Warrior for Hire section is the biggest thing I've noticed, and I think that is a good move.

I don't hang out on WF too much though (too busy taking action rather than just talking about taking action, lol).

      Hello,

Signature images are not being disabled --> and they are still being sold. The payments need to go to the correct party so Allen is cancelling the old subscriptions so cancelled users will need to rebuy with the payment going to the Freelancer folks.

    Positive: Less database issues.

    Positive: Different forums.

Negative: But I did post in the War Room offering up some free report, to date it's still not been approved or disapproved, technically it is sitting in no man's land and I am none the wiser. Doesnt make me feel that great about it especially since I am a paid up War Room member...

Negative: When looking at my own profile, I routinely look at my statistics and then click
"show all posts" or "show all threads" to find old posts and threads. Now I get an intermittent error message.

I want to change my vote. I said 'I see little change' - being that I've barely been on here since it sold, but now after reading around for ten minutes and seeing them filled with useless, filler crap comments all by new members with under 10 posts- I see major change, it's not just because I'm looking now either, there is a definite noticeable difference. And major spam!

I just went to look for the Copywriting sub forum and realized the name

time to locate. The insult of it all is that those who are involved in

Okay, this really needs to be fixed. Unless you have just gone to a thread with one of your posts in it and nobody has been there and posted since, there is no way to visually see what threads you've posted in as the "star" doesn't show up on "new" threads.

So you end up visually scrolling through each post to find one you've been at to respond. There is no way to quick scan like you used to be able to do.

Can this please be fixed because it's making navigating through this maze extremely difficult?

      Thanks.

** EDIT ** Actually, in a hot thread, the star doesn't show up in either case.

        Hi Guys

        Matt (Freelancer CEO) here.

        Thanks for the great feedback.

Our first mission after taking over Warrior was to get the site stable. I'm pleased to say we have moved it all over to Amazon EC2. We also scaled up the infrastructure a fair bit so that the site stopped crashing and is faster to load. We also are in the process of adding caching layers to speed things even more.

A second thing we've just done is clean up and tighten up the design. There was a huge amount of clutter and flashing icons on the pages which really were quite distracting- some of you might have got used to these however

We are currently building up a dedicated team internally to crack down on spam.

Since we took over we also have launched Warrior Ask Me Anything - a great livestream event series with some of the top guys on Warrior Forum (or who got started on Warrior). If you haven't participated on one of these events I highly encourage you to! There is some great content from some guys who have got fantastic experience. You can ask questions live and get them answered as well. We have archives of previous events in the War Room if you want to take a look at past sessions. So far we have had Noah Kagan (#30 at Facebook, #4 at Mint.com and Chief Sumo of Appsumo), Brian Dean (Backlinko), Rand Fishkin (Moz.com) and Chris Hexton (Vero) and we will continue to run these events weekly.

We have cut the price of WSOs by half and introduced a few new features such as the Sticky WSO and improved reminders about bumping.

We have also added new forum areas for Email Marketing, Growth Hacking and Conversion Optimization where I'm sure we will see some great content.

We have some great new features and functionality coming - but I will keep these as a surprise for now.

Please - if you see any errors or bugs on the site - let us know either by private message to myself or to Alaister Low. We have a whole team working on improving the site day by day and we will fix anything that is broken or buggy.

Also if there is anything you would like to see on the site in terms of new features, we'd love to hear from you! We got a lot of great feedback when we took over that we will be putting into the development pipeline and I'm keen to hear from anyone that has great ideas for improving Warrior even more.

        Regards
        Matt
