A Question about 'Solo Ads' subscriber quality

Hi guys,

I was hoping to get your opinions on the subscriber quality of solo ads.

I know you can buy the clicks from various places, and it all depends on the email list you buy from, but let's say 'in general' do you find the quality of subscribers to be typically low quality, as in unsubscribe fast , no buyers etc?

Also can you recommend some places to find solo ad opportunities?

Thanks in advance

Speaking in general, solo ads are one of the lower forms of traffic.

The lists are built using low quality (very high converting) squeeze pages.

There's NO relationship being built with subscribers.

Email messages are specifically written for the click. Clicks are easy to get, qualified clicks are not as easy.

The people who sign up to your email list, are also on other solo ad lists, and are consistently being bombarded with free offers every day.

I'd say the largest majority of people who stay on these types lists are interested in free stuff more than paid stuff - and much more likely to seek out low cost products when do decide to buy.

Personally, I tell people on my list to unsubscribe from any list where the marketer sends them to WSO's consistently... and squeeze pages. These people have absolutely no interest in helping them succeed. To them it's purely down to pimping them out to other marketers.

That's my GENERAL view - and it certainly doesn't mean you can't make money from buying solo ads. You can, I'm simply pointing out that it's NOT the best way to build email lists...

...unless your a solo ad seller that is.

I've used solo ads in the past with mixed results.

Out of the times I've sent solo's, three times I got a gargantuan ROI, one time I broke even, and I lost money about six times.

It depends a lot on the quality of the list you've bought a solo from.

Really the only way to know the quality of a solo ad is by reading the reviews from other people who have purchased from them. You may want to check out safe-swaps which is a huge network of solo ad sellers who all have reviews from buyers. You can also Google your niche with "solo ads" at the end and find solo ad sellers in your niche but make sure their page has good reviews from people who have bought from them.

Just to echo what everyone else is saying really: They're poor.

It's the lazy way to build a list and the end result: A poor quality, unresponsive list. It's a vicious circle with leads being recycled left, right and centre and involves a whole group of marketers having the same subscribers on their lists.

The other issue with soloads now is that it's what some people do solely for their online marketing business (WSOs all over the place about this). Why's this a problem? Because people don't care that much about the list. They buy a solo or two, build up their list, sell solos with those subscribers they generated from the first few solos and then repeat over and over to build up a larger list to sell more solos too...

Personally, I feel there are far better ways to spend money and you can build a far more responsive email list through PPC with Facebook and Adwords for the same money IF done correctly.
