Recently, I stumbled upon a new technique that totally
made an overhaul on my work system. I'm an IM and
I sell stuff online and normally need website designs
made for me since I don't have the time to do them
myself. Now, you are probably wondering...
What is this about?
Well, I decided to try something I had in mind since a
very long time ago. I went off to some local universities
and colleges (and even a couple of highschools) and
talked with their deans/Head Teachers/principals about
I decided to give away scholarships of different kinds
for the best students that created my websites/programs
that I needed and even for a 150 page essay (which I made
You probably tell me, Peter...why would you go for all that
Well, it was no trouble at all and it was just as easy as talking
with a few people here and there. You can even do this via
email since I did it for 1 school and worked out pretty good.
What was the outcome of all of this? (What was it that I did)
I started this scholarship give away in late January of this
year and basically made contests which included scholarships
that ranged from $250-$1000 for the winners to be announced
in late April/early May.
The contests basically included a winner amongst the best designers,
product creators, and essay writers.
Now, to make it for my benefits, I stated in the scholarship entree
form that all submitted work would become property of my
company and that it could be used in any way I wanted and all that
blah, blah, blah stuff.
I decided to do this because I wanted to contribute to the needy students
from school. If you ever went to school, you know what Im talking about.
Of course, by doing this Im basically paying the same that I would pay a
freelancer from out of the country, but instead, I gave it to some students.
My outcome was that not only did I get amazing results, but I got plenty to
choose from for about another year. By this I mean, that since all the
work submitted by the students is now my property, I can use a lot of the
designs (which I really liked).
The only hard part was deciding on the winners. Aside from that, it
turned out to be an amazing project of mine. I had a total of 317 projects
submitted and a total of $2000 awarded.
Today, I have designs and products made for the whole year to come,
and I only paid $2k for it, and best of all, I gave some students the
opportunity to pay for books or other things they need.
They were happy because they got an award to show for a resume,
and I am happy because I got what I wanted and even more.
This was only a small project but I can see this growing as my
business grows. You can benefit from this if you need something
made just like me and best of all, you get a positive mind about it.
To sum it up:
I got products made (which were amazing in return because everyone
wants to win something by creating their best), I paid a very low price
overall and I gave the opportunity to a student out there.
This might benefit you in a way or it might not, Im just here to offer
something valuable to you all just like you do to me.
