There is no such thing as an average price.

You can get somebody in a third world country to probably do that article for you for about $5. A really good writer worth his salt will charge you at least 25 cents a word. So a 1,000 word article will run you about $250.

As for what the average price you'll find is, depends on how desperate the person is for work.

How good the article will be? Depends on how often you've kissed the blarney stone.

It depends what you mean by "article".

        Really.

If all you want is a never-previously-published, completely unique chunk of text on the subject, which has appropriate keywords to taste, you can probably find that for a very low price, because at the lowest-quality end of the market, there are nearly as many service-providers as customers.

If you want a better quality article than that, something that people will actually enjoy reading and perhaps learn something from, then you might be able to buy one that matches your needs at Constant-Content (or somewhere similar) for around $60/$70/$80, give or take (I don't use them, myself, so I'm guessing, a bit, but "Beauty" is a very popular subject, there, and huge numbers of article change hands in that price-range - you'll find plenty, I think).

If you want a professional article to which webmasters of other niche sites will willingly link, and/or which decent sites/newsletters in need of content will happily publish, with your link, because its quality and/or entertainment value and/or information value are such that they want to share it with their own visitors/readers, and which will continue to bring you monthly traffic for years, then you're probably looking at $250+, as Steven mentions just above (and could even pay quite a bit more than that: I know people who charge more, and have all the work they want at those prices).

The word "article" covers quite a lot of different things, usable for different purposes.

Yes - this is very true, as well.

There is no average price and doubtful anyone with the general topic of "beauty niche" is paying $250...or $5 ....for 1000 words.

If you go on a freelance site like elance you will be able to find decent articles of that length written by English-first-language writers for anywhere from $18-30 for 1000 word original articles.

Well, some writers out there sell themselves very cheap.

It all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay for it.

If you offer it to them for $40, they might think you are crazy.
