Press Releases or Article Marketing

I'm looking to work with one or the other for the foreseeable future. Which service would you recommend and how often should I submit the service? I heard that article marketing was slowly dieing and Press releases can be a bit pricey. I understand you get what you pay for but I'm looking for a happy medium. Any thoughts or help is appreciated...

Considering the beatdown article sites are getting from Google updates, I'd steer clear of article marketing or even press releases. Use growth hacking techniques instead. Use Twitter and other social networks to gain influence with influential people in your niche and have your content in front of the RIGHT eyeballs. The game has changed for 2014 and beyond.

Although Panda 4.0 updates, if you still want to release a post, you may consider Prweb.com it's little bit costly.

Press releases...article sites are not going to do much for you.

But you will need to pay for it. The free/cheap PR sites are worthless. You have to get on other major media sites. Google is not going to penalize or ignore you on an ABC, Fox, Wall Street Journal or LATimes...

    You were misinformed.

(Just like one or two of the people responding, above, who seem to imagine that article marketing involves using "article sites" ).

What's dying (in fact it's dead, now) is "article directory marketing".

That was never much of a traffic generation plan anyway: it was only ever based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how article directories work.

Article marketing itself is booming, and is actually a little easier to do, and more productive of better traffic now, in 2014, than it was when I started it in 2008. Google has actually helped us article marketers out a little, over recent years, with all their helpful and long-overdue "Panda and Penguin updates", which have got all the article directory marketers out of our way and cleared the path quite a bit.

If you want to think about using article marketing, you'll need to start with a Big Strategic Rethink about what article marketing is, and how it works, and not confuse it with trying to use article directories to draw potential customer traffic to your site, or for anything to do with SEO.

Here's a one-post overview of how article marketing works, if it helps you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

    Dear Friend

    Just follow these steps

    1. Press Release - Just Go with Free Press Release with PR LOG. - do not spend money on paid releases.

    2. Article Marketing - It is not dead and the point is how well you use it. Use softwares like GSA SER engine ranker as it is a OTO and will solve your problems.

Useful Information to the Internet Users. Google wants this. They want to stop advertising contents in article marketing and press release. Google wants to stop spamming and this is the only reason, they updates their Algorithms.

In the end you have to try things out for yourself.

Just because some people recommend X and say Y doesn't work it really does not mean you will get the same results.

There is traffic out there and fortunately we all prefer different types!

I prefer PRs. It doesn't have to be pricey. Find someone on Fiverr and he'll list your stuff on 4-5 paid PR sites for just 5 bucks.

Both are good tools if used correctly, I have had very good success with articles because so many people are now steering away from them. You want to create something that appears natural and any real business will have both articles and press releases.

This actually has more to do with what you want to use these for. You can't just say press releases are better than articles. Or visa versa. That's like saying a screwdriver is better than a hammer. Not if you need to drive a nail!

It was "article directory marketing" that died years ago, Jay, not "article marketing".

Article marketing has been flourishing since long before the internet began, and is doing even better, now.

It might help you to read post #6 above (and/or some of the current/recent threads from people who have recently taken up article marketing and are finally experiencing their first true successes in internet marketing). Fixed that for you.

The classic principles of marketing using written communication have been around since the Sumerians invented the tablet. Now with Google's most recent and ongoing algorithm changes, article marketing is beginning to return back to the intelligible writing fundamentals from which it arose more than 4,000 years ago.

Did you read Steven wagenheim's post on his article marketing success story read number #1 http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ew-people.html

Article directories host articles when the article directories died so did any articles that you published that is what I was referring to with my comment.

The great idea is publishing your content to your own blog first and foremost so you control it then republishing your content to other sources while building your email list being your primary #1 goal.

I understand the Internet is built around content and always will be but if you are doing business online you should always control as much of your own content as possible.

        That's the smart safe bet

P.S. I am doing great and have not published an article in 5 years but we all do things differently.

I do blog though, but I control my blogs

Odd. The $50MM+ business that I do marketing for does just North of zilch with social media. Traditional media--and I'm talking print, not websites--has been much more important.

We need context. Unless I missed something, the OP didn't say what he is trying to accomplish. For all we know, the ideal method of marketing for the OP could be bathroom stall grafitti or sandwich boards.

Maybe he will provide a little more detail. That might enable us to provide some meaningful answers.

Press Release and Article Marketing, both are very different from each other, so the method of doing them or the criteria that you have to follow, to post your article or submit a Press Release. But both are important, and it is always good to have a diverse link profile (links from different source) so plan efficiently, and effectively.

Social media can be an awesome source of traffic, but it depends on your niche.

If you can, figure out how much you earn from various sources of traffic (buy it for fast results) and then scale up and spend more from the sources that generate a profit. This is the fastest way to get plenty of consistent traffic.

For example if you build a list, create your email sequence, get 1,000 subscribers and see how much you earn in thirty days. From there calculate the profitable sources of traffic and spend more.

I'm doing fairly well with article marketing. For me it's far easier to make sales with, especially when your article ranks well in the Google search results. I don't know why people think article marketing is dying, as long as you have quality content that has valuable info, you should have a fair chance at ranking. Next comes the other stuff like linking, sharing, etc.

They're just reporting that "what they imagine article marketing means", is dying.

It isn't actually "article marketing" at all.

They're thinking of things like submitting to multiple article directories and web 2.0 sites and similar places, trying to get articles to rank, giving away unique content to other sites, getting backlinks from articles, and all this kind of nonsense which was never actually "article marketing" at all, and was only ever based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how article directories - and similar sites - work.

So ... they're right that something's dying (in fact they're understating it: it's almost completely dead, and it was a waste of time even as far back as about 2009/10), but they're completely wrong about it being "article marketing".

"Just ignore them" is best, probably. Their loss, anyway.

Maybe so (but that also has nothing to do with article marketing, really). Article marketing is not about anything "ranking". Article marketing doesn't need people to be looking in search engines. It isn't a form of SEO.

That's one of the reasons it works so well
      .

As far as I know, the act of putting up poorly-written, spun articles is what is dying. Google caught on to the marketers who still make money on ads even though they offer the public next to nothing good. However, if you do submit to blogs and directories, just make sure you submit compelling content people will want to read and make sure you check your spelling and grammar carefully.

I've gotten decent results from a mixture of both, but you're right, submitting press releases on a regular basis would be a little costly.

I wanted to get back into article marketing after a few years of not doing it, but one thing that I've noticed is that, whenever I do a search for something, I never see articles from Ezine, Go Articles, etc anymore. Prior to the Panda updates, I used to see them all time time on just about any subject, and they would often times be at the top of the search page. Not anymore. I see articles from Yahoo! Voice, but that's it. Since the Panda updates, article (directory) marketing has pretty much gone kaput! I think it's unfortunate. I liked it.

As far as press releases, I don't know. I've never done it, but I have read from a few around here who do do it and are having adequate success with it. I guess you'll have to do it for yourself with consistency for a while to find out. Hope that helps.
