    I have to agree with the courts on this one...

    Once you spew your thoughts into the blogosphere, you can't expect to hide behind a law designed to protect 'real' journalists.

    Not that there are many of those left.

    That's rather worrying!

    The police do have some very strict rules though, so hopefully this verdict wouldn't carry over to all other 'normal' people

      Generally speaking, legal decisions only apply in the jurisdictions they're made on. Other courts in other countries may or may not consider them, as Doe vs. Cahill had a different result.

      But yeah, one ought not to expect privacy when writing something in public. I don't recall the internet ever guaranteeing that to begin with, other than giving a means of seeking information from another source.

    This is just another example of the trivia that blocks the higher courts in too many countries.

    Anonymous criticism is akin to Chinese whispers and, if you are going to make a statement you should show the courage of your conviction by being available for counter criticism.

    Great marketing ploy, by the way, "Oh, yes. I've got a blog but I'm not going to tell you it's name, the names of the products I promote and certainly not the name I post under"
