Personally I think "viral" is the most misunderstood word on this forum.

(so it gets distributed virally but quickly) This actually doesn't make sense and I am not sure what you are asking here, but...

You want traffic, right?

Some keyword research may be in order, especially if you are offering this to a competitive market. You could start by targeting some long-tail keywords and writing articles using them in the title.

You might also use those same keywords and make an introductory offer in a video, using a simple power point presentation.

You might also want to offer it someone in a related business that you know has a good list. Cut him in on a new list or affiliate deal.

When you are talking about something viral it is important to distinguish that when something does goes viral, it is mainly because of the content of the message itself, not your extraordinary efforts as a marketer after the fact.

Viral marketing depends on a high pass-along rate from person to person. If a large percentage of recipients forward something to a large number of friends, the overall growth snowballs very quickly. If the pass-along numbers get too low, the overall growth quickly fizzles.

In other words, you can do what you can as a marketer, but if the product isn't interesting, funny, dramatic, shocking, amazing, or sad enough (etc.) it will NEVER be "viral" because people will not deem it worth their time to pass along to someone else.

Good tip, Clint.
I saw a recent YouTube video of nothing but still photos of car wrecks. At the end, was a link for a presumed affiliate program. This vid got over 100,000 views!

Another thing that you can do is to contact some of the "big dog" blogs in your niche, offer them a free copy and ask them to review it on your site. Of course, you have to be confident that your report is top-notch.

If its a free ebook slap it up on as many torrent pages as you can. I did that with my ebook and within the first week had over 10,000 downloads. Still to this day I get sign ups, opt ins for my list and random referrals in countless programs I had affiliate links in the ebook.

If its not yours it is illegal if its yours it is fine. As long as you abid by the terms you have nothing to fear. They are illegal if you use them in such a manner however are fine if you do not plan on it. Its like any other file share system, limewire, the old goody napster depending on how you use it makes it legel or not. Your product you made and want to give out for free is fine to do so.

I remember when I first started in Internet Marketing, I created a few ebooks with the NeoBook software (for DOS), it was 1996 lol. I just threw together a website using my free AOL hosting and put up a simple html webpage (in Times New Roman) and offered it free. No signup, nothing, and put the same ebook & sales material on newsgroups as well as using free electronic classified ads (posting 20 a day for a week or so). Letting everyone download easily. Loads of people downloaded it!

Those were the simple days.

Its a lot more competitive now, so you need to use a lot more sources. Creating a short video and putting it on all the video sites, create a short article and link your article to your free PDF and promote the article in article directories, as well as putting your ebook up for download on the torrent sites. Set up facebook and other social networking sites with links to your ebook and join other groups/pages.

If you make your PDF rebrandable and have links in there to your affiliate program for your main product, you can get distributed through affiliates also.

Also link to it to the Make Money Online section of the Warriors forum. That would be a given. As well as putting it in your signature file.

Slap it up on your own website, use a domain the same title as your ebook, create a mini site, capture email addresses for the free download (or not if you want more people to download it). If you name your ebook/pdf/domain the same with good keywords (including lacing the pdf with keywords), you can get high in the search linkings because search engines will also rank pdf files. I got to 7th out of 8,200,000 rankings with one of my sites (although it has 250 embedded google/youtube videos & on-topic short articles instead of pdf's). Now it holds steady at 9th.

Google ebook directories, there are hundreds of places to upload free ebooks. Do that plus creating and seeding torrents will get it all over the place.
