Making Money Building Websites

I enjoy building websites/blogs, mainly WP and also enjoy writing genuine articles and material. I just find subjects I enjoy writing about - I find it quite therapeutic. I have to admit I find the next bit extremely boring: trying to get your website viewed by any means possible - of which there seems to be a million different techniques I am sure, none of which I can really be bothered with, including lacing my articles with keywords and headings etc.

As I don't like to do the marketing bit and would like to follow my passion, which is building sites, I was thinking is there any money to be made at this.

I am just wondering if anybody has had success in building and selling websites. How good do they have to be to be sold on Flippa. Do you have to supply somebody with a ready made business earning lots of money or are there plenty of people out there willing to take on a website that is not earning £100's per day.

What would a good web design with 30 or 40 articles go for, as little as $15 or could you make a viable living out of creating 1 quality website per month.

People looking for websites to buy will look at two main factors: traffic and earnings of the site in the last year - if it is minimum or non-existing then it will be very hard to sell, even for a low price, since there are tons of websites like this on Flippa and other marketplaces and all of them have 'a great potential to earn lots of money' according to people trying to sell them...
If you like writing I'd suggest advertising your writing skills, which you can charge a premium price for if the quality of your content is top-notch!
    Good luck

    Hi Sir Stanley,

That is a great skill to ENJOY. See, most marketers (like me) hate that part, and would happily pay money to someone who's good at it...

If I was you I would create a service - I wouldn't go down the flippa route (they only sell well if they have good traffic and $$$ stats)

    The Service -
Charge around $100 / $200 for a 5 post Wordpress site on a topic of the marketers choosing.

You can have bigger packages and smaller packages, but the idea is they get a ready to go website, with all plugins installed content etc. Great service to offer if you ask me, especially if they're well designed.

    Alternatively...

Pre build unique sites in popular niches with PLR content. Sell them for a fee ($49). Limit the amount of people you sell one site to like 20.

    I'm on a roll...

Start a membership site for niche ready made sites. $27pm and members get 2 sites with PLR content per month. You could do 1 adsense style site, and 1 amazon style site.

Feel free to PM me if you need any more ideas haha.

I have seen a few people claiming that they have sold their new sites (hardly 3-4 month old) for a good amount of money. Don't you think it is the niche that attracts people as much as the traffic and sales do?

In my experience with Flippa, if you want to make any decent money you need more that just a site. I found you need traffic and some sales.

A good website (and I mean really good) would go for maybe $2000-$800 or less. I would recommend creating multiple websites per month to make a decent living

    Thanks for your replies.

Very interesting to hear what you have to say.

I would be quite happy to build somebody a website with 10/20 excellent articles, Facebook page, google adsense and a few affiliate products and also build a bit of traffic and get a first sale. After this I just want to give it somebody else to run with. Was just wondering if a site like this would fetch anything from somewhere like flippa

If I don't go with somebody like Flippa, then can I go somewhere to advertise my services without having to build and promote my own website, to advertise my services - otherwise it ends up being kind of a catch 22

After selling over $250K worth of websites (over $58K on Flippa alone), I've found building and "flipping" websites one of the FASTEST ways to make money in IM...I'm also a "SUPER" Seller on Flippa, so I have a more than good understanding of the "flipping" model.

Keep in mind websites that have NO REVENUE/NO TRAFFIC will be harder to sell than sites that are earning revenue. Websites with NO REVENUE/NO TRAFFIC "can" sell for between $50-$197, that would be a VOLUME model. You must have a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) for these kinds of websites, or you'll get LOST in the forest of like sites on Flippa...

There are people who are currently making around $5K-$8K per month selling these kinds of websites, but they're selling 50-80 websites each month...Again possible, BUT you'll find yourself burning out after a short period doing this. Most of these sellers are prolific website producers, they simply produce ton's of sites and sell them for dirt cheap...

It's easy to research sellers that are making good money on Flippa, search for the site Flip Filter, it's FREE to join and will give you the seller and website research you're seeking on Flippa...

Good luck in your Website "Flipping" career....

Sites that do not have any traffic or cash flow coming in generally does poorly on Flippa (not including the listings that fake their traffic and profit).

Joseph has the same idea as I do: Creating a site with custom articles all ready to go.

Yes, it has been done a million times before, but the quality is usually poor. If you can create an appealing site, along with several high quality articles, and possibly a set of affiliate products ready to promote, then I do see it as a viable business model.

Your strength is at creating sites, not gaining traffic. Other people's strength is at gaining traffic, not creating sites. Find those people and you're good to go!

In my experience in flippa, you can get profit through selling turnkey website (no traffic and revenue). But you will just get $80 - $ 200 for each website, depends on the way you package the product and making a good sales letter that will get buyer attention.
