Help with membership site using OptimizePress & Digital Access Pass

Hi Guys!

I was wondering if someone can give me some advice on using OptimizePress and Digital Access Pass for a new membership site I want to get up and running. Below are my questions:

1. I would like to purchase the core package for OptimizePress priced at $97 as I am just starting out, but is it worth me also getting this exclusive club membership for $17 per month? I want to cut costs as much as possible so unless the membership will help a newbie like me I wouldn't want to pay for it. Does anyone pay for this exclusive club membership and if so can they tell me if its worth the money?

2. Does Digital Access Pass handle all the security for the membership? I would be looking to launch products and give people certain access levels. I am looking at the 1-site package at $167.

3. What is the best recommended screen recording software to create video tutorials on which I will use for my membership site?

4. Is there anything else I need to consider for my site?

If anyone can help me with those questions and pass on their experience I would be very grateful

Hi, I hope to help with this:

1 - OptimizePress is a very good software for its versatility and its graphics are spectacular . But it lacks the security that pushes us to seek a 3rd software like DAP .

Time ago I came across this problem when I wanted to start my membership site and did not have the resources to pay for them , so researching I found "Profits Theme" ( look for it in Google , I'm not promoting it and I'm not affiliated ) and I liked it because it gives you everything OptimizePress and having at least basic security we all want to protect the contents of the membership .

Profits Theme automatically generates the number one email when the subscriber / customer pays for membership and also generates the "username" and "password".

It is known that the issue of content security is not something that can be absolutely guaranteed , black hat sites or any malicious or unhappy client are a risk to share content .

I repeat , at least the basic security and software to create the membership site you go into one with Profits Theme.

2 - I personally use Camtasia or Screen Flow for MAC , are very good, intuitive and professional .

    Regards

Thanks for the help there. I chose to use OptimizePress as I want to also use it for the theme of my website too. I've heard lots of great stuff about it in terms of using it for landing pages, a theme for your website/blog, membership sites etc.

I also came across profits theme and was very impressed, but so far OptimizePress gives me everything I need it seems. Although it does look like I need DAP for running the membership part.

I will check out Camtasia. Can't use Screen Flow as I don't have a MAC unfortunately.

        Hey,

To answer your questions, no you don't need to buy the theme membership right now. The existing pages they have in OP2 should be enough for you to build anything. What the membership does is gives you more pre made themes. Once you have income in then you can decide on the buying more pages types.

Yes, DAP protects any content on the site you want, as well as integrates with most payment platforms to accept payment. Whether you are using Clickbank, PayPal, JVzoo, Stripe or others, they connect with a ton. You can do multiple membership areas, create affiliate programs right from DAP, everything you would need to protect your content. What it will not "protect" is content held at a site outside of your membership. For example, video, I use Vimeo which I can restrict to only stream at my domain. You can store it with S3 but if they have the bucket information they can download it. Hope that makes sense.

If you are PC based then yes, Camtasia will be the most powerful. It is a bit pricey but the tools it gives you are very strong.

Thank you OnlineStoreHelp, that is exactly the type of advice I was after.

Regarding protecting my content in my membership area is DAP the only way? Can I still protect my content in the membership area just using OP2?

Also for video I heard another alternative is to use Wistia which will host the videos for you and I believe you can restrict them in the same way as you do with Vimeo? Is this a cheaper alternative than using Vimeo and S3? I'm not really a techy guy so using AWS scares the life out of me.

It would be great if I can discuss this further with you via pm

OP2 now does come with a membership plugin. It is based off S2 Member but I have not used it as I still don't think it is as powerful as DAP. Yes you can host it on Wistia but Wistia is much more expensive than Vimeo. There is also Viddler, Vidyard, Sprout Video and others but they can get expensive quick. Best advice would be Vimeo since you can just embed directly into your membership page.

Yes PM me and we can discuss.

Concerning Digital Access Pass, it will handle all the security for your new site. Based on what you said, its your best bet. They offer multi-level membeship so you can offer different level of access and have different products.

I used other plugin like s2member and paidmembership pro but they don't have as many feature as DAP. You can check out my video tutorial here: http://www.alexfortin.com/digital-ac...view-tutorial/

For your screen recording need, I use Camtasia and it works very well. You can do voice over narration on the video you already recorded or you can just record your voice and your screen at the same time.

Other thing to consider would be getting a SSL certificate if you plan to have the checkout hosted on your site. You can have a cheap one for 10$ Or you can use a 3rd party like paypal, clickbank or jvzoo and you wont need it.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Alex
