Changing my thinking about how to conduct online business?

It's easy to get lost in the IM world, and the most common struggles are for beginners who have never worked with IM or have never started a business before, and are struggling with how to get their business lifted off the ground.

I think I realized from all the books that I have read about internet marketing is that it is all about downloading and buying or finding new tools and the ability to use them - to help YOU get sales and conduct better sales.

A lot of the IM books and videos I have read or seen teach you about how to use WordPress, how to use aWeber, or how to use Google Analytics, how to use Clickbank, how to sell with eBay, how to use Amazon's Associates program, how to create ads with Craigslist or Backpage, how to do stuff with programs and platforms and la di da di da...

But things may change, and these tools may not last forever,.

So if this is true,

Then I can assume that the question for each and every individual day is not...

What are my plans with my business today?
What things need to get done? What do I do next?

but something better, like...

What TOOLS can I use today to help me with finding keywords, selling products , finding affiliate products, making sales pages, getting analytics reports and click through results, setting up email lists, help me connect with other people world wide, create ads, etc...

So if I am correct, that after reading all these books and asking questions on forums, I am thinking that the best way to learn about these new tools is no one needs to show you how to use these new tools, but you will eventually have to start experimenting with each tool yourself and learning on your own without anybody showing you how to use them and see what tools work for you.

Tools make business tasks easier and faster to execute. But they are not the business and they don't determine profitability. They come and go with technology advances and changing business practices.

I wouldn't focus on the tools. Focus on your business execution. That includes research, nurturing prospects, product development, creating great offers, marketing and branding, making the sale, customer service and all the rest.

Your tools can help you along the way, but they aren't your business.

Once you have a system in place... focus on traffic and conversions.

Tools don't make money they just make life easier

It partly depends what type of website(s) or business you want to be running. If you are looking to build a website with affiliate sales (Amazon Associates etc) I would look into a couple good blogs.

Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income. He has a podcast along with great case studies and projects he goes over publicly:
The Smart Passive Income Blog — Smart Ways to Live a Passive Income Lifestyle On the Internet with SmartPassiveIncome.com

Spencer Haws also does great niche case studies:
