how many words is that for guest blog?

Hey guys,

When I check the guest blog guideline, it is like minimum for 500 words.

I mean it is too much.

People are not going to read it

I like to read short articles.

I am not sure if you guys are the same.

Are you going to read a long articles?

The people who comprise the most responsive traffic, the people who opt in the most easily, and the people who become the most valuable paying customers are nearly all the ones who like longer articles.

That doesn't matter. What matters is whether your prospective customers are the same.

It doesn't matter "how many people will read it".

What matters is "how many people who are going to become paying customers will read it."

A 1,000-word guest-post, in any of my niches, will always earn me far more money than two 500-word guest-posts.

Here are a few little threads - well worth reading! - which will help you to appreciate this very widely misunderstood point about post length ...

This has been my experience as well. Longer articles tend to set your writing apart from others, especially PLR and articles from bots and autobloggers.

Usually longer articles treat subjects in more depth and to me are more valuable to have on my site. I can tell you that a longer article will typically be picked up and posted elsewhere more often than a shorter article on the same subject.

Of course, quality and original content are important in both short and long articles. Without it, long articles are worse than short articles for obvious reasons.

Exactly. It's hard to establish yourself as an authority in 500 words.

Longer posts simply allow for more information to be presented.

Awesome stuff Alexa. I'd also like to add a thread I created last week

Why do people insist on cheating themselves out of money?

Basically, longer content not only ranks higher within the SERP's but also tends to receive more social shares. People want longer content.

Yes most of guest blog want article more than 500 words because, there are many spammer in the internet. If you have a blog with guest blogging opportunity you can see how much spamming article submitted every day!

I think 500 words is not a big amount for the original guest blogger but it's much for the spammer.

    Thanks for your understanding.

A 500 word article would just be an over view and barely skim the surface for a subject, so it makes sense why so many blog owners would insist that a guest blogger submit a 1000 word or longer article for content. These short 500 word articles might be easy to write, especially for marketing purposes, but they don't really help the blog where you are publishing. From the point of view of the blogger, they will always ask you to write more.

The length of the article doesn't really matter i think, if it's an interesting read then 1000 words isn't that long really.

Guesposting is a great way for getting traffic to your site, so you best make sure you deliver quality and don't worry too much about how many words you just wrote

The words "good luck with that" spring to mind, because you'll need it. Good luck getting them published (I wouldn't be able to); good luck getting them taken seriously; and especially good luck deriving any benefit from it at all: it certainly isn't easy to see how those will attract much traffic back to your site.

I can't find the names right now, but I recall reading an exchange between one of the old direct response copywriters and a client.

The copywriter presented the client with an ad that was very dense, a whole page of mostly text. The client protested that no one would read such an ad.

The copywriter bet his fee that he could write, not just a magazine page, but a full newspaper spread, that the client would read every word of. The client took the bet. When the client asked when the copywriter would have the pages ready for him, the copywriter said some thing like:

"I don't have to actually write out the page, I just have to give you the headline."

        The client asked...

The copywriter replied, "Here's the headline: Everything On These Two Pages is About [client's name]"

        The client paid up.

For those of you skimming along, here's the lesson:

If people think the piece they are reading is about them and will give them what they want, you can't write enough to satisfy them.

On the other hand, if it isn't and won't, they won't get past the headline.

If you're not prepared to work hard to generate a high quality backlink then you can stick to crappy sites that accept 300 word posts.

I have a guest post going live tomorrow that is around 1700 words but it's on a real site with a proper readership and high editorial standards - personally I'd put this effort in every time to have real people reading my post.

I believe that there is some Google patent out there that says a link that gets clicked on will actually attract a higher ranking value than one that doesn't - with Chrome, Analytics and who knows what else, they can easily tell this. Maybe someone can find this patent and/or discussion of the principle?

    Do people read books?

They are tens of thousands of words.

If the article is not interesting then people won't even read 20 words of it.

Keep the readers interested and they'll keep reading.

      I like that idea.

      Come on.

It does not matter about the length. I think.

You are writing for people to read, not machine.

People scan when they read, I mean looking the whole thing, just scan.

The short one will be better.

People only want to read a small and simple thing at once.

For example, if you give them a simple things, they will read it.

A long articles with so many points, it just receive a scan by the eyes.

Specially, you read it on the computer.

When I read guest posts, I've always read ones that kept me glued to their content. And when you are really interested in reading something and spending your valuable time, you don't want that to finish fast. Long guest posts with interesting content and some relevant pics, is what I personally like. I don't mean they shouldn't be 1,500 words or so - that would be boring...

When I write any articles for syndication, it's always 1200 words plus.

And a 1200 word article doesn't have to be boring at all.

But 500 word articles won't cut it.

At least not from Google's point of view

A key point was made regarding writing articles with the aim of people signing up to your newsletter - attracting the right audience.

500 word articles may be easy to write, easy for your readers to digest, and easy to churn out, but the only outcome is your readers clicking 'back'.

Yes, people may stumble on a 500 word article, but they, more often than not, will leave the second they finish. It's just not enough to connect with your audience.

Those aren't the readers you want.

When you write lengthy articles (1500+ words) you have enough room to connect with them on a deeper level, whether that be from informing, teaching, or simply sharing your opinion. Note: The key is to keep it concise, thought provoking, and possibly even controversial. But if you write 1000 extra words of fluff, you'll be in the same place as the 500 word scenario.

Those are the people who will read what other gems you have, and most importanting - SIGN UP TO YOUR NEWSLETTER where the money is eventually made.
