Alternative To Powerpoint

Hi all,

I am building a tutorial site. I wrote a book on my niche but decided in order to get a fuller experience for my clients I would record example videos (done) but also teach theory via video. I dont mean stand on camera talking, but make a video of facts and examples and talk over it.

My initial thought was to do Powerpoint presentations, do a screen recording whilst talking over the top. that would do the job, i would have a platform to put text and pictures on and pass on my information.

However, it just feels a bit amateurish, i plan to give away the first couple of lessons for free and obviously the free content isnt going to give away all the secrets so making the content look as professional as possible is vital as that's part of the sales process.

I dont want to sink thousands of pounds into getting a video editor or graphic designer charge $600 a day to go through every slide putting animation etc on it. But is there any other software out there good for this sort of thing?

Many thanks

    Download openoffice.

The built in Impress program will do it all.

I use it for all my on-screen/animation/talking text type videos.

PowerPoint is a legitimate video creation program. There are lots of free as well as paid templates and short video clips you can insert to spice it up. PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 both allow you to export (save as) your presentation as video.

Go to Youtube and search for PowerPoint videos. You'll find many impressive samples.

I love Keynote (iWork) but you can try libreoffice if you're on windows.

LibreOffice Impress is a good alternative to Powerpoint. If you want simple animations, Videomaker FX is a good call.
