I think I know why 97% of people fail online

This requires you to be passionate enough to try things for months on end with the probability of no profit.

This requires you to watch tons of motivations videos to change your mindset.

This requires you to challenge convention, and do things that are hard.

This requires you to give up TV

wow, its not easy to live on the beach after all.

I still consider myself lazy lol.

  • Actually this is about having the will and perseverance to see things through, have the patience to wait for results and the focus to keep on your track. You can be passionate about trying things for months but unless you are focused on the task at hand you're still unlikely to succeed.

You don't actually have to watch motivational or mindset videos or read up of them. They help for sure but not compulsory if you know what you have to do and how.

    • This is about the best summation of what it takes to succeed with online marketing that I have seen. The business model, product or service really doesn't matter (given a competitive niche).
  • I 'don't know. I never done any of these but I didn't fail. Maybe you missed something. I watched tons of Korean drama instead and still earning...

    • Lack Of Focus
      Lack Of Focus
      Lack Of Focus

      Taking NO action.

1-Next thing is the next great marketing company/program!!
      2-Same as number 1!!

Not learning one thing at a time, need to look at the next great WHATEVER!
      Not fellowing through.

      No Support maybe.

There are so many other reasons/possibiltiies that people fail online and off line.

    • Pretty much explains the overwhelming proportion of failure in the IM universe.

Yes. The actual figure is 93.7%
  • lol... yea, but you're right guys. Sometime is doesn't take too much time if we can working in an organized way, but especially when we're just starting out we need to invest the most of our time to grow ourselves. That takes a lot of time and focus.
    Once you're set, that's it.

    Get focus , go $1k a day online. =)
  • i think so
  • The truth is a four letter word. FEAR.

Not knowing if you are going to succeed or not puts most people into a state of "I don't know enough yet". Then you keep looking for more and more information till you no longer know where to begin or end. You know all the steps, but you can't seem to put them together correctly. So you continue your search...

On and on the cycle goes. Fear's a bitch. Don't let her control you.

    • Taking action with the right resources.
  • I think only focus on your work can succeed you.
  • People fail because they give up and quit. Quitters never Win, Winners never Quit.
  • You do realize that "97%" is a made up figure, right ? Just Sayin....
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • People are failing in IM because they want to
sell stuff to people! They don`t want to help them.

All they want is to make a quick buck...
They has no vision behind their business,
well they don`t even has a business. They
just have a random product to sell from CB
    or from anywhere.

... and you know without goals and vision
you will never succeed (in anything)

Work harder on yourself than on your business.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • It's fairly simple, if you have a plan and determination you will succeed.

If you get distracted by TV then i don't believe your REALLY want it...
  • Procrastination kills - focus, motivation, will - just sticking to whatever it is you choose to do. The amount of competition makes all of that even tougher to stick out, but pushing and pushing is key....
  • You need to have a big dream to be in 3%.

If your dream is not strong enough, you will end up in 97%.
  • Have a clear well-defined goal.

Breakdown complex work into small manageable tasks.

Schedule yourself to finish a task everyday. Give deadline to eveey task.

In this way you are moving a step closer to your goal everytime.

Don't give up your favourite activities for it. This will demotivate you. Instead know when to stop and get to work. Thats why schedule is important.
  • It all comes down to consistency and to get the shit done you have to do! Most people tend to work on their business just when they feel like it and they ignore that even when you don`t fell like it you have to do it to succeed!
  • I think perfection is the problem. The reason 99% fail (more then that by the way) is the want be be perfect. The devil whispers in their ear "you must be great, you must be perfect" so they believe the devil and never start so they can be perfect! The normal people know they are not got can can't be perfect. I just got a bad review on Amazon Kindle saying my grammar sucks so what I'm Serbian, I do the best I can but I do it, I'm not God and I can't be perfect I can just do the best, but I do it! If you want to leave the 99% and join the ones who do, stop listening to the nitpickers they are also the ones who point things out that are wrong, just ignore them and just do it. Good luck.
  • Here's where I think the problem begins ...

This industry is based on "Selling the dream" ... and in this 97% , there's alot of :

    1. :
Most people are looking for an EASY way to make money online, who would turn that down, right?

The truth is that you do need to put hours into your business to get returns, like any other business.

Yes, there's an AUTOMATION part to it, but there's also a MANUAL part as well, that requires FOCUS, DETERMINATION & SELF DISCIPLINE.

    2. : Most people are looking for FREE WAYS to make money online...

In my opinion, what goes around comes around!

I mean, if you want everything for free, why should people buy from you? Right?

Without getting esotherical... you reap what you sowe!

With that said, this business is all about and yet, some people still believe they'll find FREE REAL VALUABLE SECRETS. - but I sure love having them optin to sell Solo Ads lol.

    3. Like any other business you need : The Right Training, The Right Tools, The Right Business Model.

In my experience, the best way to avoid pitfalls and loss of money, is by getting coaching or "Done for you" services right off the bat, to start strong, at a lower cost if you add it up!

I remember when I started, I would buy books here and there, videos etc.

Sure, it was only $2 here, $5 there, and some of them helped... but in the end, it represented a few thousand dollars and no real value, no visitors to my offers, no real profits to brag about v.s. the traffic investments.

If I would have gotten the right training, by a PROFESSIONAL that had AUTHORITY and a PROVEN BUSINESS MODEL, I would have CAPITALIZED in LEAD GENERATION instead of loosing myself as I did.

I call that the "INFLUENCIAL" reflex : It's easy to get blinded by "SHINY" OBJECTS that makes people jump from 1 "money making" scheme to the other, resulting in a loss of money, disapointment and eventually... abandon!

My tip to these 97% people :

    ollw
    ne
    ourse
    ntil
    uccessful

... And once you understand that :

    earning
    mitating
    haring
    eaching

P.S. FOCUS on your eMail LIST as well because that's where it all begins!

    • Skills. Tell me about your Internet marketing skills and I can tell you if you will succeed at how you are trying to make money online. Even people who do paid advertising or outsourcing need skills.
    • Great stuff bro! Then there is my 2 personal favorites, PROCRASTINATION which ultimately end up meeting his evil twin brother NOT TAKING ACTION.

  • For me, the secret of a successful campaign is: BEING CONSISTENT

All the secrets of internet marketing is laid out in this forum but not everyone succeeds with the information at hand because not everyone is consistent with their efforts.

You have to market consistently. Get traffic daily, put out QUALITY articles weekly, QUALITY post in social media channels daily, Syndicate your articles, Talk to other blog owners, Go offline and talk to industry leaders, Create podcasts, create your own ebooks, create webinars and so on.

Basically, you have to do this consistently.

Even if you give this information for free, people will still fail and it's because they can't do these things consistently.

Secret to Success ==> Take Action. Be Consistent. Be Creative. Help People. Be Sincere. Be Honest. Always Give Value.
  • You failed to tell some important things, Believing in what we do, getting inspired by someone and finally being patient. These three things are very important and I am following this one by one.
  • One of the keys to success online, especially when you get started, is:

It takes money to make money.
    • [2] replies
    • AMEN! That's exactly it!

    • IMHO, it's plain stupid to spend money when you're just starting out.
You need to learn first, otherwise you'll end up with a big hole in your pocket.
It may take a while, but when you finally manage to make some cash without spending any money, then it's only a matter of perfecting your skills.
Once you have the skills, then it's time to spend the money and seek for leverage.
  • I know first hand that there are two distinct reasons that most fail.... That is correct, ONLY 2 reasons!

First reason is lack of dedication and focus.... If you are not dedicated and cannot focus on the job at hand then you cannot become the best....

Second and most common is just plain old STUPIDITY! I cannot tell you the amount of people that just DO NOT GET IT.... They do not understand no matter how many times you tell them and how many videos and webinars they watch.... They do not have the educational level needed to be a marketer.....

It really is that simple.......... My two cents that will cause some nasty comments I am sure for calling people what they are......
  • 97% of people are failing for the fact people don't take action in there online business, they are not committed and they don't treat it like a business
  • Many people quit after the first little "hiccup" in their IM journey...The ones who stick to it and learn form their failures and mistakes are the ones who succeed...

You really need a no-fail attitude in this business!
  • I can be a lazy person, trust me. Sometimes I go through "cycles" where I don't want to work and I can't be around my computer.

However, most things I have ever tried... I have succeeded at.

Like my first local affiliate site. It was the first website I ever built in my life. And I worked on that site for months on end. Then it turned out to be the most profitable site I ever built. It was a lead generation machine making me thousands of dollars a month. And I build many sites after that site but the novelty wears away... and it can play games with your head.

Then its the same story with my first Clickbank / Youtube channel.

I worked on that 1 channel for about 4 months before I made my first sale. It was the first time I ever tried promoting Clickbank offers. And I don't know what it is with me, but I guess I'm lucky in the respect that when I start something, I will work on it as long as it takes, even if it takes years, till I succeed. By month 6 I was making $300-$400 / week and my earnings kept growing.

    The strange thing is,

I'm not a very ambitious person.
I'm not a very motivated person.

The reason I work so hard.... it's more of an ego thing. If I start a project then give up, I feel like a complete failure. I feel like a loser. I envision myself going back and applying for shitty minimum wage jobs. And that's what really motivates me. It's a fear of failure.

Some people use the "fear of failure" to not do any work at all.

But fear of failure is what ultimately "motivates" me. It's not motivation that motivates me. It's a fear of being like the rest of the world. That's what motivates me more than anything.
  • focus and taking action ( both these need self motivation )
  • I don't know who come up with this 97% fail ratio figures
  • People FAIL at Internet marketing because:

    1) They don't have a plan of action. (Or, if they DO have a plan, they abandon it as soon as they see another "bright shiny object.")

    2) They lack even the most basic Internet marketing skills and knowledge. (It's not rocket science, but you DO need to understand a few fundamentals.)

    3) They don't take focused action. (But, if they DO take action, they give up as soon as anything goes wrong.) As Woody Allen said, “Eighty Percent of Success is Just Showing Up.”

    • Any sustainable business needs the right people, the right processes and the right technologies to efficiently execute the right annual business development plans, the right product development plans, the right advertising / marketing plans and the right customer support systems so as to hit the right target projections. Many don't reach this point. Why?

They end up with the wrong target market, or the wrong product / service, or tap the wrong resources, or execute the wrong start-up plan. Why?

They have the wrong knowledge if any in the right analytical market research methods, or the right knowledge in the wrong analytical market research methods, or the wrong product / service development skills if any in the right target market segments, or the right product development skills in the wrong target market segments, or the wrong sales experience if any in the right market segments, or the right sales experience in the wrong target market segments, or the wrong set of client / customer support expertise if any in the right target market segments, or the right client / customer support expertise in the wrong target market segments. So:

The main problem seems to be a mismatch of certain things that are relevant to: (1) Correctly formulating the right sustainable start-up plan; (2) Properly executing the plan by implementing the right PPTs (People, Processes, Technologies); and (3) Cost-effectively running an efficient business (any business) to consistently hit the right target projections for growth and expansion...
  • Reasons For Failure

    # 1) Choosing The Wrong Niche

    # 2) Doing The Wrong Things

If The Chose The Right Niche & Do The Right Things & Still Fail, This Is The Reason

    # 3) Inconsistency

    • The person at the bottom is still closer.

Where does the guy at the top stop?
  • 1. OVER THINKING THINGS.

    2. WAITING FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT.

    3. NOT TAKING ACTION.

    4. SHINY OBJECT SYNDROME.

    5. POOR MINDSET.

All of these can kill your progress no matter how good your strategy is.

We all face bumps in the road and success isn't a straight line its more like
looking at a bole of spaghetti.
  • There are so many reasons why and each are very personable.

I've been taking action with side project for more than 15 years. I gave up TV a long time ago, I'm one of the most driven and focused person I know, I have a very strong will and can-do mindset.

Yet, in my case, I was just missing a business mentor. I was top of my game on product development, just not on marketing and sales.

After 6 months, training on this side of the things, things started moving very nicely in the right direction.

What works for some don't for others, that's why 97%+ fail.
  • Taking action is the key to success, if just making plans and every time thinking about the plan that how to make him more effective makes you always the loser.
  • Everybody here talk about Focus or Procrastination.

If Focus or Procrastination was the problem, most business would not fail by the first year, since most business owners are determined and hard working people.

The reason as of why 97% of the people fail is lack of Focus or Procrastination. The REAL reasons are...

    1) Their offered product/service is not something the market is willing to pay for. (low quality or simply bad business idea)

    2) They fail to present their product/service in a compelling offer to the market (low conversions)

    3) They lack exposure (low traffic)

    4) Downright poor business management decisions.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • My reason for not being successful as I want to be is definitely not taking action.
  • Well, people fail online for the same reasons they fail in life.

If you look at it as deep as possible, you'll soon understand that there is no difference between succeeding in relationships / sports / business / health / mindset.

It all comes down to dedication, persistence (even in face of defeat) and a mindset where there are no problems, only opportunities to outgrow your situation.

The problem was never lack of traffic. The problem was that people got discouraged and bored before they've found a way to get traffic. The problem was not lack of conversion. It was a lack of true interest in what makes people tick or enough trial and error.

Because yes, sometimes, it comes down to trial and error.
  • Give up TV? I don't watch much television but I just can't live without Jerry Springer and of course Adult Swim.

You only fail when you quit trying. Failures lead to success. You just have to have the balls to fail and fail again until you get it right.
  • The problem is people dont know what they getting involved with...they hear a success story but dont know what the grind of that success was like.

They hear about some guy with little to no employees or outsource, but, dont know the consequences of those actions.
They are sold on the premise that they can do it too, but, not knowing about the boredom or skillset that they'll need to complete a task.
If you could shadow these guys you would realize that you are probably out matched by someone who's skillset has been honed over the years and have a network that you dont unless you can afford to buy your way in through purchasing products, getting in vip groups, and, perhaps going to live seminars to network in person.
  • I am happy that I belong to 3%

    • 20 francs a day certainly put you at that level.
  • Banned
97% of people fail online BECAUSE they lack commitment. Commitment to stay focused, Commitment to learn more, Commitment to take action, and so on!
  • The real number is 98%!

The reason people fail is because they don't have a clue.

I know how to drive a car (quite well) but if I went to a Nascar race I would be a laughing stock.

I know how to play football but 30 seconds on the field with pros and I would be on my way to the hospital.

So, I can make big money online because I have a computer and Internet access?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Some people alas will never have a clue until they treat their business like the brick and mortar equivalent. And why do they not have a clue? Because people like us keep selling to them knowing that they might not even use our product for several months before opening them and also because marketing is a beautiful art that keeps us buying into the dream an infinite loop. I'm not saying I am like that, but that's what marketing is all about.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The two reasons are either taking ZERO action or not sticking with an idea or plan for more than a week. Most people think it is easy and that they will start making money from day 1
  • Those would just give you a temporary high - I regard this as a waste of time. Wouldn't it be more useful to read something like GTD?
Of course, if you just like motivational videos, they are fun to watch in your spare time. I personally love that TED talk "Why You Will Fail to Have a Great Career".
