Marketing channels for affiliate marketing newbie

What are the marketing channels you would recommend for newbie affiliate marketers to promote their website and affiliate products?

I find the following very effective:
Ezine articles
Blogging
Online forums

Does anyone use other channels like facebook, twitter, adsense etc? How do you find it?

Depends on what you are selling. But the main this is to get people onto your list.

Recently I see the best results coming from facebook ppc. paying about $1 per lead and its all down to the email marketing after that.

Never got much joy off twitter.

I wouldn't consider Ezine Articles a way to promote products. They are a way to find people that are looking for content.

There's plenty of great channels to promote your products and one of the best ways is with your own email list. This gives you the opportunity to stay in contact with them over and over and it allows you to build a rapport with your visitors/customers.

    Some other great channels:
    Social Media
    Pay Per Click Advertising
Banner Advertising works well for some
    Solo Ads
    Blogging

Wherever you can best reach your customers.

If your niche is hunting - join hunting forums and become a recognized user there.

Target hunters on Facebook - they're on there too.

Add in some SEM (PPC) - target keywords that hunters use.

    Etc.

Attract your audience by going where they are.

Many, but here's just one -- Facebook PPC / PPM ads targeting a decently sized custom audience for an opt-in offer, so as to build a mailing list subscriber base where you can promote your affiliate products to as beneficial recommendations. For example:

If your niche is IM / MMO, then you can find open source software licensed under GNU GPLv2 or GNU GPLv3 that provides benefits relevant to your target audience, which you can modify, re-brand and distribute as an opt-in offer, i.e. An open source GNU GPLv2 / GPLv3 Windows software that can allow users to record their desktop screens and audio as AVI or SWF videos (for guides, how tos, tutorials, etc.). Then:

Post this as an opt-in offer in your website, so you can collect the emails and / or mobile numbers of your target audience. Of course, include effective copy that could most likely compel your target audience to enter their emails and / or mobile numbers so as to download your offer. Also include an enticing video that shows the main beneficial features of your offer in action. In your opt-in confirmation email, you may also include reminders for your users to access general user support via your forum (so as to have user-genrated niche Q&A content), or if you want to integrate premium phone / email support as a paid subscription for your offer (another way to generate income for you), then you may include this as reminders both in your opt-in confirmation email, in your general user support forum and into your offer itself (as pop-up notifications). Next:

Set up a Facebook page with a custom welcome tab that's integrated with your opt-in offer and your video along with a shorter version of your opt-in copy. Set up a pinned to top post in your Facebook page with your video along with a much shorter version of your opt-in copy. Then:

Set up a Facebook advertising campaign with right-column and news feed PPC / PPM ads that promote your opt-in offer to your target audience, or better yet, to your custom audience. In recent results of our Facebook ad campaigns for our clients (as a friendly reminder, the niches of our clients are not IM / MMO), right-column PPC ads generate good opt-in conversions and sales results when it comes to website clicks, while news feed ads generate good opt-in conversions and sales results when it comes to page engagement, and including video in these news feed ads generates good opt-in conversions and sales results, while custom audience targeting produces good results...

Of course, set up a fixed monthly budget for the things above, so you won't go overboard, and track your results so as to improve your campaign. Then:

Send out follow-up emails to your mailing list, carefully striking a balance between sending beneficial non-promotional content and sending beneficial promotional content (with affiliate product recommendations)...

    That's it. Hope this helps...
